another 1920x1200 LCD problem by
[email protected]
I had a Samsung 2443 sitting in a cupboard for ages. I plugged it in to a
laptop using VGA cable, and screen is blank. If I shine a torch onto the
screen, I can see the image, meaning the backlight is shirking its duty.
However, if cable unplugged, you get the moving box telling you there is
no...

Funny - Spectre 32" Monitor by
Flasherly[_2_]
Walmart online, pickup at the nearest store.
Walmart advertised it on sale for $79.
Walmart really, really needs to sell it for $35, but no one's
interested, and plenty can't wait to buy one.
I have a theory: Spectre chips the monitor to fail at 363 days. A
Spectre warranty is 364 days.

Sandy Bridge SATA degradation flaw by
[email protected]
The 67 chipsets SATA (3 Gbps) ports were supposed to fail over time.
I still have several PCs with 67 chipsets. I don't know what stepping
they are (old or fixed).
So how to tell? Would plugging in an SSD and doing a large file
benchmark diagnose a sickly chipset?

spdif pins by
[email protected]
Somehow I can't see original message on google groups.
My question is simply about pins in this case 1 pin.
Is 1 pin connect to the wire or two ?
Usually there is a plus and minus when it comes to eletricity/electronics.
Looking at the cables there seems to be 1 pin and then something circular.

USB to VGA/DVI adapters - ever used one? by
[email protected]
I have seen them with USB3, then I came across one with USB2! Must be
awfully slow. I wonder what you would use it for.
One place I worked had a cluster with a chilled water heat exchanger
stuck directly behind the rack, so it would have been not feasible to
plug in a DVI connector if techie wanted...

Interesting...
Costco selling Microsoft Office 365 and then taxing it on top of a
digital Miscrosoft product download. Renting a MSFT product for
periodic time disclosures through a online WEB subscription basis. Up
to 5 years subscription, something like a 2-year cable contract for
locked rates,...

What are your findings with SSDs ? by
[email protected]
Everytime my harddisk is slow/taxed I kinda wish and wondering about SSDs... how much would I really like it ?!
What I would HATE :):):):) is losing all my data caused the SSD went dead or broken or corrupted.
So for this I ask you and I am wondering:
What are your practical findings with SSDs...

More fun with EFI/UEFI BIOS implementations by

I don't think he likes my MB.
http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/index.html ...
The worst I've personally encountered is on Gigabyte's Hybrid EFI,
which provides you with no boot options whatsoever, beyond choosing
the boot device (hard disk vs. optical disc, for instance). I've heard
of others that...
