05/26/04 - DDR 2 and Socket 900 for Q2 2005
Some good Asian friends send us words about AMD plans regarding DDR 2 and it
could come out much sooner than expected. According to well informed OEM
sources, AMD is already testing a 90nm SOI DDR2 version on socket 900 code
named Toledo which will be...

Write AMD and tell them NO to dropping the 754 CPU's by
Wayne @ W.
I just purchased mine 3 weeks ago, and it just became available 4 weeks ago
(Chaintech VNF3-250). I don't want to see my investment go the way of the
dinosaur in less than a year?
thank you,
Wayne

eMachines m6805/m6809 by
Jason Cothran
Does anyone currently own one of these machines? I am looking in to
delving in to the world of portability, and despite the name, these look
like two AWESOME notebooks, especially for the money. I would love to hear
any comments, in particular experiences from anyone running the 64bit patch
on...

Everquest by
Jason Cothran
Does anyone here play everquest with the 64 bit beta version of XP? I just
purchased my laptop the other day and would love to try out XP 64, but am
concerned with compatibilty. Is there a "32 bit compatibility mode" built
in?

2 cpu on one chip. by
the gnome
I keep seeing reports that AMD are going to do a 2 on 1 chip but am confused
as to the number of pins.
Will this chip replaced the AMD 64 chip, with 900 and something pins, or
will they be an upgrade route for an opteron.
Anyone know ?

Hallelujah! - sort of.. by

ATI have beta Cats out for AMD64 Windows.
Still no Linux drivers though :/
Take your time ATI. You can launch beta drivers for an OS that isn't even
out yet but can't be ****ed for one that has been around for a year.

Thinking Dual-AMD for next slack box... by
thrugoodmarshall
I've been running slackware for a few years now on a dual PIII 600.
It was a screamer when I bought it, but it's getting kinda slow on
builds.
Built firefox last night--started the build watched "Forbidden Planet"
with my wife, and the damned thing was still building when we went to
bed!

Chassis Fans by
Craig Coope
OK I have decided to get some chassis fans for my case as there are none at
the mo' and temps of 60C are not going down well with me...
OK now I have one 4 pin PS plug thingy left (from the PSU) ...so if I got
two or 3 fans (one intake at the front and 2 outtakes at the back) would it
be possible...

64 bit OS compatability by

If I load a 64 bit Linux, such as SUSE, will it run both existing 32 bit and
new 64 bit binaries. Not every program I would like to use is available in

Normal Win32 OS's did a good job running 16 programs, I am just...

Windows 64 bit beta worth using? by
William A. Leaphart
I just ordered a 3200+ and an MSI (K8T NEO-FIS2R) board and now I'm
wondering what the beta 64 bit windows XP is like. Is it buggy and is it
worth using now? I downloaded the iso for 64 bit XP, used Nero to burn to a
cd but am I asking for problems? Thanks in advance. Roadkill

Tiger K8W Power supply recommendations ? by
bebopper
Any recommendations on a tried-and-true Power Supply for this mobo ??
According to articles it can run with any 350W PIV compatible PS. Any
advantages to a native SATA power connection vs. the standard 4-pin ??
Likewise ATX12v ??
It looks like in order to use ATX12v the board requires a 4-pin...
