STORAGE SERVER CONFIGS? by
Phil Jennings
Hi Guys
I have recently been given eight 250GB SATA MaxLine Plus II hard drives. I
was wondering if anyone could recommend any storage server configurations
for use as a file/storage server on my LAN? Possibly RAID etc?
Many thanks
Phil

HDD is connected to a SATA connector belonging to the VIA chipset, and
not to the additional Promise SATA/RAID chipset that is also available
on the MB.

Are Western Digital drives reliable? by
Richard
I has a Fujitsu 6Gb HDsix years, never had a problem with it, no bad
sectors or anything. Had my Western 80Gb 7 months and it's developing bad
sectors. Am I just unlucky to get a bad HD? Was made in Malaysia. Western
is sending me a replacement.

disk failure after partition magic resize by
Jonathan
If the data is important then I would recommend sending it to a good data recovery company. I work for Data Recovery Services but any of the top companies should be able to handle this one. You can check us out at www.datarecovery.net or email me personally if you have any questions.
I tried to...

How is this possible? by
Richard
My removeable zip drive is normally J:. Every so often out-of-the-blue it
becomes D: in "My Computer" and that then causes problems because
all the other drives move up a letter, Data that should go to a partition
goes into the partition physically nearer C: Yet, Partition Magic continues
to show...

Extra logical drive appears, can't understand this by
Neil Harrington
I just built a Win98SE system using some new but mostly old parts. The
Maxtor 20GB drive is one of the old parts, and this is a drive that I had
previously partitioned into 15 and 5 GB. I installed Win98SE on logical
drive C of course, the 15GB partition, after deleting everything, but I did

retrieve data from old HD using other computer? by

A friend's computer had a hardware crash; she can't get it to past the POST,
so she bought another computer.
Assuming the old hard drive is still good, what's the recommended way to get
the data off of it? I assume one should stick it into another computer with
one hard drive, but I don't know...

Error while trying to run programs from RAID0 drive by

Hi,
I'm having slight problems while migrating from my old drive to my new
RAID0 array.
I have simply copied all of the files to the new drive, including some
programs. While the drive letters remain the same from the program's
point of view, I still had to fix a lot of broken registry.
Now that...

Hard drive crash twice! by
Adrian
Can anyone help?
My computer wouldn't boot up one day and I had to reformat, load
everything again and it was fine. I did a scan for viruses and found
nothing.
Then a couple of weeks later it has done the same thing again. What's
going on?
It was running Win ME.
