Strange problem backing up to network drive by
dg
I setup a new server in an office. It is a very loud server tucked away in
a sound resistant cabinet. To allow easy backup media swaps, I setup the
backup so that it backs up to a removable IDE drive in the secretary's
workstation. She swaps the drive out every morning. The server runs...

Hi all:
I bought a Maxtor 7Y250MO SATA drive (the 250Gb. one) about 4
months ago to use it as a data drive (I have a Western Digital 120 Gb.
as system drive). After a month and half (more or less) it started
failing in the following way: there would be a "crack" noise coming
from the drive, and...

Surface checking whole drive: use Svend's Findbad ? by
John Smith
Need to test my backup hard drive after it got dropped on the desk.
Is it better to surface check the whole drive at once rather than surface
check each partition separately?
Would Svend's "Findbad" do this whole-drive check?
Can any utility software get the hard drive to map any bad sectors not...

John Smith
Who is selling the cheapest IDE storage measured in cost per gigabyte for a
UK user?
Want to store about 200 to 250 GB of data on hard drive(s) which will be
kept disconnected from the PC.
I don't mind if the drive is 5400 or 7200. I don't mind if it is 100 or 133
Mbps. But I do not want several...

Now I use FDISK with Windows 98, say to create Primary DOS partition and
use maximum available space, but it only sees...

Comments on Iomega's 35Gb removable REV drive? by
Mark
Does anyone have any experiece with Iomega's 35Gb removable REV drive? If
so, how do you like it? How reliable has it been? Any problems with it?
Would you recommend it? Are there any other removable drives worth
considering that are at least 10Gb per cartridge?
