Convert DVD to CD? (large .cab file) by
Sunny
I just received an update for my GPS maps. The original maps were
supplied on several CDs, but the update is a single DVD.
The license allows me to install the maps on as many computers as I wish
since they can only be downloaded to my registered GPS unit - but one of
the computers I wish to use...

CDBurnerXP compile/test-write question/problem by
Dubious Dude
I am exploring the use of CDBurnerXP for backup of nonrecreational
data (not music/images/movies) onto CD-R's.
From reading the help, it seems that assembling a compilation merely
creates a plan of the file hierarchy to be burned onto disc. Since it
took a long time for the dragging of a file...

Sony CD Extreme terminology: TAO, SAO, DAO, Fix Up by
Dubious Dude
Hello,
I was wondering if any users of CD Extreme (SCE) can comment on the
terminology used. I am using it to backup nonrecreational data (so
not songs/pictures/movies). When I used Easy CD Creater, there was
the concept of closing a session, or leaving a session open to allow
more data to be...

Sony CD Extreme & Sony CRX700E? (G'bye Easy CD Creator) by
Dubious Dude
Hello,
I'm encountering eye-bulging muck-ups in critical data backups made
with Easy CD Creator 5 (such as missing files with no notification).
This is a serious crime for data backups, so I've pretty well decided
to try something less, er, astounding. After much reading, I've heard
that people...

Nero still better than Roxio by
CygnusX-1
I recently bought NEC dual layer DVD+/-RW burner. But it comes with
Roxio. Is Nero better than ROxio for DVD/CD creation? Does NEC with
Nero support overburned DVD/CD? TIA

Copying program from multiple floppies by
Don.
Win98SE
The floppy drive on my computer just crapped out just past warranty and I
don't want to be without it right now. My wife has a floppy drive and a
CD/DVD burner.
Is there a way to copy a single program, that covers several floppies, to
a CDR so the program may be saved and/or installed on...

Anything you can spray on a "normal" cd to allow inkjet printing? by
Doc
In a quest to use gear in ways the manufacturer says you can't, anyone know
of or tried some aerosol product you could lightly mist on the label side of
a CD/DVD to allow printing on an inkjet printer with direct CD/DVD printing
capability and that for sure won't cause any damage?
Yes, I know they...

Compatible Toshiba Internal drive? by
[email protected]
I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop which has a Toshiba SD-2612 internal
DVD drive which has stopped working. Are there any cheaper alternatives
to buying a new drive (other than second-hand)? i.e. do cheaper
"compatible" drives exist?
Many thanks,
Ben

0700-Vans
I've just bought my two grandaughters a couple of used PC's for

I want to copy a music CD but the only option is to write at 24X. I would

DVD+R vs. DVD-R by
J. Yazel
Is DVD+R better than DVD-R and if not why not?
I'm asking because there are certain economic advantages to go with
the +R but I don't have a clear picture of the pros and cons.
Thanks for any help .
