how do I find out the manufacturer of my CDRW drive? by
Elwood
I'm trying to find out if there are updated drivers available, as I seem to
get a lot of fixation errors when burning (using WinXP Home, and Nero 5.5,
with Imation discs).
I'm wondering if there is any freeware/shareware out there that will show me
the brand/maker of my installed CDR and CDRW...

Cheapie fanless video card? by

Hello,
Looking to get a cheap AGP card which must be fanless (dont like
noise!). Performance not much of an issue coz I wont be playing
games, just looking for anything better than onboard graphics.
Dont need anything like a Radeon 9000/9200 - can even be as low as a
32 MB card. Any...

Help! What the hell is this memory for?! by
Li'l ol' me
I've just bought what I thought was a bargain stick of 512mb DDR memory. I
didn't know the timing, but thought I'd likely get PC2100.
I wish!
The make is Samsung (M383L6420BT1-CA0), and the chips are marked
K4H560438B-TCA0
There is also a label marked "IBM 512mb simm_nsNS 64Mx72 100hz 2.5v DDR...

Stupid Damn ATI Drivers! by
Zilog Jones
OK, I have an ATI Rage Pro Turbo AGP card on my crappy old PC. The driver
that came with it (4.11.2612) was a bit screwy as 400x300 resolution would
just cause my monitor to switch off (I have the correct drivers for my
monitor), and some programs would only run at a max. of 85Hz when the
monitor...

Power Supply Gone Bad? by

Quick question for you all. I have been having some problems turning on my

plugged into my power supply that I do have a green LED on my motherboard
and when it's unplugged the light goes off. Is it possible for the LED...

Looking for opinions about SMART monitors by

I'm thinking about installing a SMART monitoring app. I'd rather not

Are they worth using and do they cause any problems?
Any recommendations as to which to...

Monitor Crackling Noise again by
Michael
Hi, my monitor made a very harsh crackling noise when opening a high
resolution video file in Winamp...I've heard that the noise could be
related to the voltage going to the monitor and something called
'arcing'.
Could it be related to my video card, my old TNT2 broke, so I put an
old 8mb AGP card...

CD burning speed determines read speed? by
David K
I've gotten the impression that the speed a CDR/CDRW is burned at
determines the maixmum speed that the burned data can be read at
afterwards. In case I'm wrong, let me explain what has happened.
A CD was burned at 32x. It was inserted into a different CDRW drive
which can only read at 32x max. It...

First, as far as I know, SIMMs and DIMMs have never been able
to coexist in any mobo. In addition most older mobos require that
DIMMs be installed with no blank sockets between them.
Additionally many boards required that DIMMs of different sizes
be installed in a particular order, usually the...
