Use ExpressCard/54 slot to expand RAM on netbook? by
[email protected]
Hi all.
Perhaps this is not feasible, but I'd still like to know.
So here goes...
I bought a handy HP 2140 netbook.
Its only drawback is that it's limited to 2GB RAM.
I put a 256 GB SSD and installed ZRAM.
It runs Linux Mint (Tricia) and it's not too bad... as long as I don't have too many...

KVM Anomaly by
[email protected]
This has been driving me nuts.
I cannot retain my desktop icon layouts.
I have two PCs, one W10, one dual-boot W7 & W10.
They are linked via a 2-port USB VGA KVM.
I never have desktop arrangement-retention trouble on the first PC
whether I use the KVM or not.
I never do on the second either as...

My HP Deskjet 855C died tonight. by
John C.
Tonight I tried to print a grayscale portrait of my late uncle and aunt
on some nice, glossy photo paper. After waiting a long time for the job
to finish (the XP drivers for the HP 855C really suck badly), I was
astonished when the paper came out exactly as it went in... BLANK! This
was after...

Bad Power Supply by
tb
I have this desktop PC (quite old!) that when I shut it down I have to
wait at least a minute before I can reboot it. If I press the power
button before approx. one minute it does not turn on.
I'm hoping the hardware experts in this group will confirm that it is a
power supply issue, not some...

worst. But passengers who get anxious around takeoff may have a new
option to calm those nerves. British Airways announced that it is
testing out virtual reality headsets for the rest of this year on

Did you read the section in the manual about "Clear CMOS" ?

Cutting the ADSL ball and chain by
Norm Why[_2_]
Hi,
I have been able to improve Youtube and network performance by using
tethering on my cheap LG K4 and cheap mobile data from a DIY mobile network.
Bytes cost $0. It is the supply chain markup, labor costs and monopoly that
makes the price high.
I have been on a consumer strike with my ADSL...

MCP73VE PC no Boot by
Norm X[_2_]
Hi,
History: my MCP73VE PC was working when I transported it by car to shop to
see about a new CPU (Q9650) cooler fan. When I brought it back home I dusted
the CPU Cooler duct and tightened the CPU screws. Nothing I haven't done in
the past.
Current work: When I got home the PC would not boot,...

Hair-trigger keyboards? by
Peter Jason
Hi, where can I find keyboards with heavy keys that do not go off with
the slightest touch? I make too many mistakes by just brushing over
the keys by mistake. Is there a special keyword for searching for
these heavier keys? I'm used to the old typewriter keys.
