Pro/100+ Management AFT in W2003 will not create team by
Robert Strickler
Proset sees the on board NICs as "Pro/100+ Management" adapters and
when we try to create an AFT team it gives a message that starts:
"No team initiating adapters are available for this team mode..."
This board/NIC was happily teaming under W2K.
I think what is happening is the ProSet 8.0.0.0 is...

A question about optimization by
David C.
I've got a small fragment of code I need to optimize. It adds an
integer to another integer, modulo a third integer.
In C, this operation is:
int i, j, k, l;
i = (j + k) % l;
I know that in the past integer division was a very expensive operation,

Pentium 4 HT vs. Pentium Xeon? by
Ilker Tarkan
I'm in the process of purchasing a new computer and I couldn't decide
whether I should buy a p4HT or a Xeon. I am not an expert in hardware
so I appreciate any help.
I will use this computer mostly as a workstation for 3D graphics
applications.
From my research I understand that Xeon was the only...

MSI 875P NEO series, help wanted! by
Rudi Brochs
Hi,
I have just bought a MSI 875P NEO FIS2R together with a Intel P4 2,8 @
800MHz, and 2 * 256MB DDR 400 ram. Everything seems to work ok, but I am not
very impressed with the speed compared to my "old" AMD 1900+ system.
I'm thinking maybe I have some wrong settings in the Bios or some...

Graphics card: is a fan essential? by
Anthony Campbell
I recently changed the fan on my graphics card (Riva TNT2 Model 64)
because it was noisy when starting from cold. However it now makes a
loud hum all the time which is annoying. What would happen if I
unplugged the fan? Stop working, blow up the chip, or what?

D845pebt2 Board by
Manda Luyong
Don't have your type of board but it seems like you have the HD LED wires
backwards. Unplug the wires, rotate 180deg and plug it back in. Looking at
the diagram of the board, it shoud be on pins 1 and 3.

P4 2.8GHz by
Roger Gelder
I see there is a new P4 Northwood out - 2.8Ghz, 800MHz bus.
Could this be used in an Intel D850MV with a 400 MHz bus, or
must I stop at the 2.6GHz, 400MHz bus?
Present cpu is a P4 1.8GHz Willamette.
Cheers,
RoJ

pIII sustained integer performance problem by
Kamen Yotov
My intent is to detect the number and type of functional units in a CPU with
running benchmark tests. Just for the sake of clarity I will talk in "C"
below, although, be assured I looked at the assembly and it is what you
expect.
If you repeat "r1+=r2" on a X GHz P4, you get 2X BIPS (billion...
