My son just bought a new computer that has Record Now installed as the
burning software. I don't know anything about this product. Is it any good?
If he buys Nero 6 will he have any problems with both of them installed on
the same system?
Does anybody here use Record Now?

Suggestions for DVD software by
Dan
I've recently ordered my 1st DVD writer (liteon 811s), after having used a
cd burner for a couple years. I'm pretty familiar with all the various
programs for audio (burners like Nero/NTI/EZCD, rippers like EAC, editors
like cooledit, etc) but I'm wondering what might be some...

How important is buffer size in a DVD/CD writer? by
Dan

are 2meg buffer size, the last is 8 meg. What is the inherent advantage (if
any) of a larger buffer size? The Sony is about $25 more than the...

Differences between cdr's by
Dan G
All marketing, no difference.
Audio, or music CDR's are required for audio recorders but the discs
themselves are no different. They have a special coding on them that
identifies them as "audio" to the drive.

Is Philips DVD-R reliable media? by
Dan G
Phillips doesn't make media, they re-sell media made by others. The discs
could be almost anything. Odds are good that it will be of average to below
average quality.

If you're talking about booting to an SCSI drive, you have to have "boot
from SCSI" enabled in your BIOS, and it have to be before the HD in the boot
sequence.

Reliability if too many buffer underrun by
Dan G
You should be more worried about using RW discs for "backup", very
unreliable. They should only be used for copying and transferring data.
As to the under-run, no it's not a good thing. If your files are smaller
than a 32KB, it can really slow a hard drive to index and copy them, and
could cause an...
