WnASPI32.dll - different versions by Terry Pinnell
I have the file WnASPI32.dll in my Nero Program folder, and it is 164,112 bytes in size. Yet I also see it he C:\WINDOWS\system32\WnASPI32.dll where it is clearly a very old version dated Sep 1999 and is a mere 45,056 bytes. Is that likely to be a source of problems? -- Terry, West Sussex, UK

Disc identification by Ulrich Prinz
Hi! I need to identify a Disc by any data. The important thing is that it should go fast. So as different types of disys are to be handled differently I need something that is easy and reliable. For CD-ROM and DVD-ROM I found no fast way of identifying them. May be I build a checksum over the...

DVD combo by Dirk Bruere
Looking for a good DVD combo that's less 'plasticky' than most. That is, it should have a good heavy drawer. Any recommendations? Dirk

Only 80MB on 700MB disc and it says it's full? by [email protected]
As the subject says, I burned (ISO) 80MB of PGP encrypted files on a 700MB disc, yet when I do a Right-Click "Properties" on it, it says the disc is full. There are only two files on the disc. One is under 240MB, the other is 89MB. That does'nt add up to 700MB. What am I not understanding - again?

Need Help: Mitsumi CR-487ETE CD-RW uses up 100% CPU while burning at max speed! by RoyalJelly
Hi Folks, Just wondering if someone can help me out with this problem. I've had my Mitsumi CR-487ETE (internal IDE) cd-rw burner now for sometime, and I haven't been able to figure out why it hogs up so much of my CPU usage (close to 100%) while burning at max speeds (12x and up). I believe that...

iomagic dvd-rw question by GLS
My external iomagic dvd-rw door stopped opening a few days ago and after I took it out of the enclosure and removed the cover I found that the belt had slipped off the drive motor. It was a simple matter to reinstall the belt and get it to work again. But while the cover was off I noticed (how...

Nero StartSmart Copy CD (Audio CD) by Neil
Using Nero StartSmart and selecting Copy CD appears to make an exact copy of an audio CD. The only difference I see is that any pregaps on the original are added to the timing on the copy. For instance, the original has Track 1 at 4:09 followed by -0:04 before starting Track 2. The copy shows Track...

Copying a copy protected CD by Robert Thorpe
I have an old CDs that I think is no longer sold. I like it, and before the years scratch it into oblivion I want to make a backup. If I copy wav files from the CD and play them then they playback fairly well. But when I burn them to CDR and play the CDR it comes out full of noise on every track...

Unreadable CDR's by Bobbie Leslie
I have an elderly family member who copied (really, thought she did) tons of family .jpg's by using a drag and drop method. I had bought and installed Nero on her machine sometime back and someone told her she could just drag and drop without going thru Nero. I have the CDR's and there is evidence...

Nero Express CD ejection by Tom Bebee
I recently purchased a new computer and it came bundled with Nero Express. I am giving the software a try and it seems fine other than the option to "not" have the CD eject after a backup job - this is not working. I have updated to version 6.6.0.1 from one that was on the...

Reading CD-RW drive in AOpen DVD DUW1608/ARR by Rob Nicholson
Just bought the above AOpen DVD writer and as a DVD writer it works a treat. However, when I insert any CD-RW burnt on my old Samsung SW-248, the drive access light flashes forever and the CD-RW can't be accessed. I can't even format it. Put the same CD-RW in my other DVD reader drive and it reads...
