Writing speed by Colin Bearfield
I've just fitted a lite On DVD Dual Layer Burner. I already had a Toshiba DVD player about 6 years old so I've buffered it to be the slave on the primary IDE cable while the new Lite On is the master on the secondary IDE cable. I thought that would give pretty speedy writing from one to the...

CDRW more durable than CDR if burnt once???? by Bill Larcombe
Hello all Visited a mate at the weekend who insists that if you're burning CDRW only once (i.e. not re-burning) then it is more durable than CDR. I've never heard of this before is this correct (I've always used CDR)? Of course even if this is true I understand that some audio CD players do not...

IBM USB Portable CD-ROM Windows 98 Driver? by John Brown
Apologies for the crossposting. So here's the deal: I have an IBM X20 Laptop running Windows 98, which requires a separate driver to use this USB CD-ROM. I ran into a driver conflict, so i tried an uninstall/reinstall for the drivers. Imagine my chagrin when I realized that I did not have the...

verifying time twice as long as burn time by mfb2
I'm using Nero6 and an LG GSA 4082B on DVD+RW 4x media. If I choose the option to verify the files after they've been burned, the verify stage is like twice as long as the time to do the burning. Has anyone got an idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

[comp.publish.cdrom] CD-Recordable FAQ -- pointer by Andy McFadden
This is not the CD-Recordable Frequently Asked Questions posting, but rather a pointer to it. I'm posting this because there may be propagation problems with the FAQ (it's rather large for a Usenet posting), and some sites have automatic filters that think it's spam. This is also going out to...

DVD-RAM media for LG 4082B? by Daniel Prince
I am planing to buy a LG 4082B multi-drive mainly to back up my hard drives. Do all brands of DVD-RAM media work well in this drive or are there brands that I should avoid? In your opinion, what is the best value in non-cartridge DVD-RAM media? I will probably get 40 to 100 pieces of media...
