I just rescued a DeskPro 2000 from a skip and it appears to be working
fine except for a problem which occurred when I tried to add some cards
to the machine. Basically as long as only the three slots (2 x ISA and
one ISA/PCI) on the outside of the riser are used all is well. If either
of the PCI...

Deskpro 4000 without fans by
Andreas Thell
Hello!
I have a Deskpro 4000 (rather old, Pentium 166MMX, 128 MB) which I use
as a file server and firewall. It works quite find, the only thing
disturbing me were the fans. I replaced the CPU-fan successfully with a
passive cooler and I use a very, very silent Seagate harddrive. The only

Deskpro 4000S HD&CD Upgrade by
Adam Richardson
Hi All,
I've got a trusty old DeskPro which I'd like to put a new HD and CDWR in
since they're pretty cheap...
Can anyone tell me if it matters what drives I get? Are there
limitations which mean a new drive won't work? E.g. can I put an EIDE HD
in there?
Thanks a lot,

Steve
I have a Compaq Deskpro 2000 5166 with a system ROM 586C
dated 08/16/1996. It only supports disks up to 2Gb. Am I
correct in assuming that if I Flash this thing with the
SP15800 ROMPaq from HP/Compaq, I can stick in a bigger disk?

DeskPro EN by
[email protected]
Just been given a DeskPro, the label says DPENS P450+/6.4/W5 UK. It is
not fitted with a CD and appears to need a low profile model.
Additionally the connector on the logic board marked CD appears to be
non standard. Does this all mean that only a Compaq drive can be fitted
to it. I've got it up...
