System Attack by

Looks like someone with to much time on their hands is attempting to
attack my business computer by posting malicious viri...(HA HA HA)
I'm laughing because of my system invulnerability!
However the FBI isn't so humorous as this is a Felony; they are

Mobile Fidelity CDr's (is it risky to burn higher than 1x)? by
soundandvision
I recently purchased some Mobile Fidelity CDr's and I wanted to burn
some things that are very important to me (audio). Their website
advises to burn at 'real time' or 1x. I've burned a couple of things
at 4x (with Exact Audio Copy -- EAC) and everything seems fine. I just
want to check with...

Paper labels on DVD discs by
Hackworth
So what's the verdict concerning the use of paper CD labels (printed on an
inkjet printer) on DVDs discs that one burns? Is it really a bad idea, or
doesn't it matter? There's a big discussion going on about this amongst the
geeks at work and I'd like to know the facts.

CD-RW UDF, "Fixed Packets" - the history and the future! by
Gerry_uk
Hi,
When CD-RW drives first arrived on the scene it was suddenly possible to
drag and drop files from Windows Explorer onto the CD-RW drive and to
carry out operations similar to a Data Stick or floppy. You didn't have
to create a "CD Project" or "burn" the CD. To me, this was much more...

Alternatives to Adaptec Easy CD creator? by
half_pint
Are there any free alternatives?
It is destroying my CDs with gay abandon at the moment when I
try to format them for data (directed) (just had about 5 straight failures).
I am wondering if it is EZCDCreator or just a real bad bunch of disks,
I bought 50 and only about 2 in 10 (if that) work....

What are the best brands to get dual-layer DVDRWs (+ and -)? by
Ant
On 12/29/2008 9:00 PM PT, Ant typed:
Yes, RW since I will be reusing them.
Thanks in advance. ;)
Is it me or are DVD+/-RW discs rare? I can't seem to find any.
http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#4.3.10 says they existed since
2006.

DVDRW Packet writing software? by
Jeff
Hi all!
I recently bought a Sony DRU 510A DVD burner so I could start using
DVDR/RW's.
This complements the drives I already have - Yamaha CRW2200E cd burner
and Liton DVD/CD drive.
Running Win98se. Previously I used Nero6 with Incd4 for packet
writing. I understood these should also work with...

nero discspeed - erase vs format by
Eric Gisin
DiscSpeed is a free download from Nero, which includes an erase function.
The dialog has both Erase and Format functions. What is the difference? SCSI MMC has ERASE.
One of my DVD+RW has a faint arc scratch, which shows up as hard errors at 3GB.
Should erase pick this up? The laser has to switch...

Can files be recovered from erased CD-RW? by
Psaiyan
Does anyone know if it is possible for someone to recover files from a
CD-RW which has been completely erased?
If so, is there any method of permanently and securely removing all
traces of the data from the medium?
Your help would be appreciated.

CDRW - obsolete for backups? by

Am I missing something, or has CDRW just about gone the way of
floppies when it comes to backing up these huge hard drives? Doing an
image backup can take dozens of CDs. DVDs would make the process less
cumbersone, but even they may not have enough capacity these days.
With the availability of...

reuse of cdrw by

"(12) What is a "re-writable CD-RW"?
A regular CD-R is a write-once disc. That means that anything you burn onto the
disc cannot be erased. Ever. By contrast, A CD-RW disc is "re-writable" or
"write-many-times". It is fully eraseable, and can be erased and re-used or
re-written up to 1,000 times....
