EAC rips too fast by
EAC ripped at about 10x on my old Lite-On burner. This is using the secure
mode. I have a new LG burner, and the speed starts right out at about 18x
and works up to the high 30's by the end of the rip. That's pretty fast.
Does it sound right to you?
The rips are fine.

What could be wrong with my DVD-ROM? by
I have a Lite-On LTD-163 DVD-ROM. I've had it for about 2 years. A few
months back it started to have trouble detecting a CD. It would spin up and
try to read the CD, but eventually fail. Sometimes I could reinsert the CD
and it would eventually recognize it. It would then play the CD with...

Need file 8100_10g.bin to flash a HP 8100 ... help please! by
I flashed my HP 8100 CD writer with 10n to be able to use 80min CDs, but
now it doesn't work with CD-R at all anymore (only CD-R/W). Since I
don't have Windows, I can't use the HP install package, I need the
actual file 8100_10g.bin, so I can use updcrx21.exe (which I have) in
DOS to flash it back...

had problems with Imation CDRs burned on a Plextor 32/12/40A
I used Kodak CDRs for a number of years without a problem.
I've burned their 12x and 16x as fast as 24x! I still have a
few spindles left that I use for important technical...

Plextor PX-716SA SATA Drive by
* * Chas
I'm assembling a new dual boot Win98/XP PC with an Asus N8K-E mobo and
an Athlon 64 3000+ CPU.
I want to install a PX-716SA SATA drive because I've used all 4 IDE
channels.
Plextor originally listed this drive as compatible with Win98, now they
say Win2k/XP only. I'm wondering it's a software or...

Nero 5.5 problem with XP Home and NEC ND-3550a by
* * Chas
I just built a new XP Home system for a friend using an NEC ND-3550a
DVD-R/CD-RW drive with a Sony CD-ROM. Both drives work fine and I can
burn to the NEC with WMC.
I installed Nero 5.5.10.56 but it doesn't see either drive when I try to
copy or burn a DVD, CD-R or CD-RW, or erase a disk. It...

I have copies of Roxio Easy Media Creator 6 & 7 that came with several

Nero and bootable cd's? by
***** charles
Hi all,
I just got a burner and installed Nero 7 Essentails.
I need to create a bootable cd but haven't figured
out how to do that. I've been all through the
software and don't see any choices for making a
bootable cd. What am I missing or should I get
a different program for this?
thanks,

Cinemaster question by
- Bobb -
So, if I had PowerDVD already working (on the transplant) before the card,
then I don't need this card ? and it's useless to this system ? OK. I'll
yank it back out and send it along with the old DVD player to an older
system (and then they'll need to get some Cineplayer software (like my
PowerDVD)...

Cinemaster card by

Old Dell Dimension R400 (Pentium 2) got replaced by an Optiplex, SO I took
a few of the cards out of the R400 and put them in another PC. Dell user
has no original CD's/manuals to help me out.
here's the question:
Transplant PC has a DVD in there using PowerDVD.
One of the cards I transplanted...

DVD/CD drive recognizes DVDs but not CDs - wondering why by
.
I have a computer with a Liteon DVD/CD reader/writer drive. The thing
will read and write DVDs great, but can't tell the difference between a
CD and a maple leaf.
Any ideas why this is and how I'd fix it?
I assume that if the drive itself was bad, it wouldn't recognize DVDs,
and I assume...
