PC World To Close? by
Count de Monet[_2_]
Staff at the Derby branch of PC World have today told a customer of mine
that the store will close soon and the business transferred to Curries.
The staff member thinks this will happen across all of the UK. He also
noticed many price reductions on PC's and accessories.
This may be staff...

Thoughts on hdisk dates from ebuyer by
Mike
Advice/thoughts please. Ordered 3 western digital 750Gb harddrives
from ebuyer last week (£300) all have a manufacturing date of
December 2007. Topically hdisks are not so far behind on dates
since this is also applied as the warranty date fwiw.
Anyone think i should query this?

Anyone know anything about Key Computers (in Uxbridge I believe)?
My daughter has just won a free "prize" of a computer from them
(provided she pays £116.33 for one-year's maintenance).

Pixmania by

I ordered an MP3 player from Pixmania. They sent me a camera (someone
else's order).
I called them 3 times to arrange collection. Nothing.
I emailed them to complain. I got a reply saying they would collect but
could not say on which of 2 days this might happen.
A further call, pointing out...

WTD: laptop by
f u z
Hi,
Anyone know of good deals for laptops (new). Not looking for anything
flashy, just something that will enable me to use word processing and access
the Internet. I'm willing to pay from £500 to £800, but the cheaper the
better.
Thanks

Graphics card with DVI out at 1680X1050? by

My new Philips monitor has a resolution of 1680X1050. My existing
cheap and nasty graphics cards handle this at analogue, but not
digital.
And trying to track down the resolutions that various cards deliver
seems impossible. That is one of the specs they seem to bury.
Anyone got any...
