Raid 0 by
The New Guy
The Intel Matrix Raid 0 available on many newer Intel motherboards
like the 965 series is getting great reviews. I wonder how it
compares to hardware based PCI Raid controllers?

please recommend where to buy 2 gig modules ddr2 by
Scotter
I'm about to build a new core duo quad core system.
The motherboard I've picked, like many, has only 4 slots for RAM.
I want to put 2 gig sticks in each slot so I can have a total of 8 gig.
The ONLY 2 gig sticks I can find of at least DDR-800 speed are at NewEgg by
two brands I never heard of.
The...

Difference Between Intel Server and Desktop CPUs by
[email protected]
Can someone point me to an article or explain the difference between
server and desktop cpu solutions.
For example,
How do 2x Dual-Core Intelآ® Xeonآ® Processor 5100 (server model) compare
to 1x Intel Coreâ„¢2 Quad processor (desktop model) in terms of
performance?
Thanks,

Data Girl
I am currently in the market for a work / personal use laptop in the base

965 Chipset Family - System Bus Question by
Tim[_2_]
At the Intel site, the system bus of the Q965 chipset is described as
"1066/800/533 MHz-2 threads", however the system bus of the G965 and P965s
only state "1066/800/533 MHz". What does "2 threads" mean, is the Q965
system bus somehow different from the those of the G965 and P965? TIA

i8086 architectural fix by
SoLo2
Hello!
I was thinking about maybe there
being interest between the intel
assembler programmers and CPU
architecture connoisseurs about
an "unfolded segment:offset"
version of the original i8086.
As every programmer here knows

comparison of different Xeon processors and their performance? by
Scott Townsend
Is there a place I can see a comparison of different Xeon processors and
their performance?
I'm looking at the 30x0 Series and the 51x0 series and wanted to know how
say a 3060 compares with a 5120.
I've seen some comparisons on desktop processors, but not the Xeon.
Any leads would be...

Could someone reccoment a good laptop for a database developer? - Part II by
Data Girl
The other day, I posted a question regarding what I should look for in a new
laptop. Here are the specs I have decided on:
* Intel Core 2 Duo or Core Duo (seems to be higher in regard than Athlon
X2).
* 1 GB RAM (I'd prefer 2 GB, but seems to only be bundled with models a step
higher than my...

eSata, Ram limitations by

Is eSata really working properly on most boards? I'm hearing stories
of flakey performance and booting issues. I'm looking to work with
large video files and want a hot swappable enclosure where I can just
pop in hard drives for editing and viewing while still maintaining
Sata performance. I...

mobo D975XBX2KR by

I'm building my dream machine (as much as I can afford) and hit a new error
message for me.
The system is Intel mobo D975XBX2KR w/ Core 2 Duo E6600 and video card
Matrox Parahelia APVe which is a 128MB PCIe x16.
It copies the XP pro cd without a problem (horizontal bar at bottom goes to

I have installed the plain graphics drivers for the Intel 855GM gfx

internal LCD and the external VGA, even, when no external monitor is
connected. The external monitor has to work when plugged in later,

Is it Worth the Upgrade by
Tetor
Hello,
I currently have a PC with a P4 Northwood 2400 MHz, overclocked to 2700 Mhz.
I use my PC to do a lot of number crunching, like audio coding and decoding.
I am trying to figure out if a newer faster PC is really worth the upgrade.
I have my eyes set on the Core 2 Duo, yet I do not know what...
