SCSI drive wont boot/coexist with IDE Raid Controller by
Juzzam
We have a SCSI drive with the OS on it and want to setup a raid array
to store non-OS files. We bought some HighPoint Rocket Raid 100 cards
(our motherboards supports only up to 100ATA) and two IDE drives per
card.
When the RocketRaid card is connected to the IDE drives, the SCSI OS
drive doesn't...

scsi Hard drives by
[email protected]
Hi,
I've been looking about at various scsi hard drives and controllers
with the intent of buying one for my work desktop, the task is going to
require alot of repeated disk access so the quicker the better so i've
assumed that a 15,000rpm Ultra320 type is my best bet. However i have
no idea about...

SCSI HVD PCI-X controller?? by
Hiroshi
Dear all,
I'm looking for a SCSI controller to use with my IBM Magstar library.
To control my Magstar library you've to use HVD (high voltage differential)
SCSI controller, and not more usual LVD.
A good one is the Adaptec AHA-2944UW (HVD), but it has a normal PCI (33mhz)
connector.
In our server...

SCSI is limited to 2 terabytes by
Maurice Volaski
If you stick enough hard drives together, you can easily surpass 2
terabytes of combined space and if you try to connect them via SCSI,
you will apparently not see all your space.
That's because host bus adapters from Adaptec and LSI Logic can't see
anything larger than 2 terabytes.
I am using a...

SCSI Ultra320 and LVD 160: hardware compatibility by
Maxim S. Shatskih
Can I use the U320 disk like Seagate Cheetah with LVD 160 controller
(Adaptec 29160)? Or will I need the new controller and cable for the U320 disk?
For now, this controller works fine with IBM UltraStar DDYS-T18350M disk.

SCSI Vs Fiber for MS SQL Server by
foo
I have a few questions but let me first give a quick background. I have an
MS SQL server that is having an IO bottleneck. Disk space isnt much of an
issue since the database is only about 10gig, but I'd like to improve IO by
increasing the amount of disks and channels.
I see 2 options:
1. SCSI...

SCSI vs IDE on wimpy Win2K server (IMAP) by
Jaz
I was considering switching from IDE to SCSI to improve disk
performance on a small Windows box running IMAP.
Would switching from a Maxtor IDE (DiamondMAX) to a wide SCSI disk @
10K on Utra160 drastically improve the time IMAP takes to fetch say,
2000 messages? (present IDE filesystem is NTFS +...

Hello all,
Which of the two following architectures would you choose for a

scsi_vhci driver support for EMC DMX3 by

Does the Sun Storedge Traffic Manager support EMC DMX3 devices? How
does SVM handles the multipathing in case if the metadevice is created
on one path and that fails?
I understand that the psuedo device naming convention takes care of the
meta devices in case if they are Sun Storage devices. As of...

SD Card - boot sector by
Peter Sommerfeld
Hi guys,
I am finding that reading the raw data off an SD in my embedded, that
the boot sector is not actually at address 0, but differs from card to
card (ie. my 64 MB has the boot sector at 4E00, and my 128 MB at C600).
Everything else before this is read as 0's.
I am not using any of the...

SDLT technology question by
Rob Turk
Hello group,
On older DLT drives there's a know issue with slow restores when the system
area of the tape hasn't properly been updated. This could happen because of
power loss or SCSI bus reset with the tape still in the drive. The next time
such a tape was loaded, the drive couldn't use the...

stupid question.
I've got a new StorageTek Library (L40) with an SDLT 320 drive in it.
I am using Veritas NetBackup DataCenter for Windows 2000.
My question has to do with wear and tear on the drive heads. My
previous library (also...

Seagate STT20000A - Problems with compression by

I am using the backup program that is native to Windows 2000 Server and
can't get more than 10GB on a tape. These tapes should handle up to 20GB of
