I see no complaints about it being down, so maybe it's not very popular.

Windoze from a branded system recovery DVD ? by
[email protected]
Somebody gave me a heap of "system recovery" DVDs from various big-brand PCs.
They contain the Windows XP/Vista/7 to reinstall after some unhappy event.
I noticed they are typically labelled
Professional SP1 32-bit
only for use on a brand X PC
They never say what model. I thought they were...

Why modem not built-in with heatsink and fan? by
[email protected]
My last modem failure was an overheating issue I thought. I got new modem and I did not know it was running hot until I touched the plastic box...Oh my..It was hot. Why? I opened inside and touched the main processor... It was sizzling and should been built-on with heatsink and fan like CPU has. ...

Dell Laptop Power Supply -- Caution Center Pin by
Davej
Caution: that isn't a coaxial connector -- it's triaxial and
apparently a careless check of the voltage can short the inner
connectors and ruin the supply.
Now I'll need to see if I can scavenge the internal part from
another discarded supply.

BIOS Set State Fail [Revert to Default] by
Flasherly[_2_]
Battery replacement indicator: simple answer.
Due to Power Outage and resultant condition. So- thought I'd try
Gigabyte's "save/restore BIOS to/from disc" -- a subset routine
available within the BIOS Boot Menu selections (or advancement closest
to an olden-school floppy BIOS Flash,...

Anybody ever tried a GPT to MBR system disk conversion? by
Larc[_3_]
There are apparently ways to do it without losing data. Several utilities claim the
ability, AOMEI Partition Assistant for one. A friend has a Lenovo laptop with a GPT
disk. It would be nice if he could reclaim the space used by the extra partitions
needed for GPT. I made the switch with my...

Neat heatshrink tubing soldering tip by
Flasherly[_2_]
You've got super-fine needle nose pliers that will inversely open,
backwards quite wide, right?
Well, then...proceed to stick both plier extensions into some
heatshrink tubing, opening the pliers forcefully (just don't break
your precision tools) to stretch the tube as far as you reasonably...

SATA Shuffle by
Seymore4Head
I have a ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO mobo and 5 drives.
The SATA ports are marked SATA1, SATA2, SATA3, SATA5, SATA6. (I love
computer counting) Port 1 is a single port. 2-3 are paired and 5-6 are
paired.
For some reason the mobo looses the boot drive. Since I log on to the
computer remotely, I don't have...
