Selling OEM sotware - allowed? by
none none
Hi,
I just came across a few CDs that came with my old PC - namely Windows 95,
Office 95 and Office 97.
They are all OEM cds, i.e. it states on them that they are "For Distribution
Only with a New PC", and are all unsealed (were installed on the original
machine). They each include the original...

Buying from other vendor through Amazon by
Sandi
I go to Amazon UK for an MP3 player.
I find Amazon lists an MP3 player which will be supplied by Pixmania.
I would like to know this .....
Is Amazon acting as an agent (so my contract is with Pixmania) or as a
reseller (so my contract with Amazon)?
Comments suggest Pixmania is generally ok...

DSR - dead pixels by
Tx2
It's OK to send back a TFT with duff pixels under the DSR, as you can
legally turn the monitor on to check it, and then send it back if you
find the display unsatisfactory; it does not have to be sent back as
new.

Overclockers.co.uk by
Rob
Has anybody had any experience with Overclockers.co.uk? (or OcUK as I
think they're also known as).
I bought 2 x 1GB 3200 DDR from them in Feb of this year. Towards the
end of May one the sticks failed so I requested and got an RMA number
for the faulty stick.
I only wanted to send the faulty...

Watford Electronics/Savastore nightmare company by

Let me warn you about the very real perils in doing business with this
outfit.
I have never come across a company that treats it's customers with such
utter and total contempt.
I made the mistake of buying an Aries system of Watford Electronics at the
beginning of december for business and home...

"In Stock" - as defined by Dabs by
Parish
I ordered a couple of injet cartridges and some CD-Rs from Dabs at 2pm
Thursday. All were in stock with 3 figure quantites. I got suspicious
when Next Day Delivery wasn't available as an option at checkout, but
went ahead anyway since, IME, they ship stuff Next Day even for their
standard 1-3 day...

CCL disappointment by
DrTeeth
Got a bit of kit today from CCL.
The box had a sticker on it which said something like "checked for
quality control". The sticker was placed so that opening the box would
rip it.
I immediately phoned CCL and asked if the box had been opened. I was
told that it had. I asked if the item (a graphics...

Good luck if you try using Dell in the UK. Their systems are probably
OK. However, their technical support and customer service are
unutterably hopeless terrible terrible terrible. Just trying to
discuss a possible repair on the phone is enough to make you want to
vomit. I wont be getting Dell...

Scary by
Snowdon Computers
Bought a laptop at a liquidation auction, had been previously owned by an IT
sales company. Had a gander at the hard drive first (as you do) and there
were some pretty scary letters to customers - such as
PC freezes after about 30 mins
Their solution - Could be CPU, Memory or Motherboard faulty....
