JBOD vs. RAID 0 with non-identical disks by
Dayton
I have a 160GB and a 120GB hard drive in which I want to make one
GIANT drive and then partition into 4 equal partitions reguardless of
which physical disk the partition has to reside on. Essentially
creating 4 70GB partitions. When you use RAID 0 with non-identical
disks, can you use the wasted...

JNI (AMCC) FC adapters misbehaving by
Sebastian Schoenwetter
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if any of you guys are using JNI FC6460 adapters on
Solaris connected to HP XP 512 or HDS storage devices. Preferable
using Brocade 2800 / 3800 fabric switches and Veritax VxVM and DMP.
We have a long history of trouble with JNI cards and would like to
compare our...

JNI or Emulex for 1G Fibre Channel HBA? by
news.directlink.net
I apparently have a defective JNI FC64-1063-MC-EMC controller because it
always reports LINK DOWN and I see continuous messages in the log stating
"Tachyon Hung - Resetting". Needless to say, the card won't communicate with
anything.
I chose the JNI because it appeared to be the most commonly used...

Kompression poisto? by
Linjojen
pitäjillä/SUPO:lla kun on lakimääre tunnistaa KAIKKI kirjoittajanimet, koska

L1/L2 cache question by
v796
Hi,
An L1 cache is split(I,D) or unified. Most(All?) of the time an L2
cache is unified. Are there any processors out there which use a
split/unified L1 cache backed by a *unified* L2 cache?
Is there any motivation in doing this?
I am confused since IMHO, all the instruction opcodes ought to fit...

Labelling on Legato Networker? by
[email protected]
I am using X-Windows to administer my Legato Networker 7.1.2.
Prior to the server hardware upgrade (new machine), when we labelled
previously labelled volume, there isn't any prompt for confirmation.
With Networker re-installation, I am unable to switch off the label
overwrite prompting.
There...

lacie nas - cannot find operating system by
[email protected]
So I have been around the block with my 2 TB Lacie NAS. When I try to
boot it, I get a message that it cannot find the operating system. I
know that if I use the CD that came with the NAS, it will erase
everything on it. Anyone know of a way to run a diskcheck or repair
the MBR on this thing?

LanVault Lost Password by

I've got a problem that I hope someone can help me with.
I've got a Quantum LanVault 200 (that's a NAS device and a DLT
library) and we've lost the password for the NAS device's web admin
GUI (and the 4 digit unlock code for its display). I've tried
searching the net (Quantum's web site has...

Large Linux XFS volumes and xfs_check? by

I'm testing a 9 TB xfs file system on a X86_64 Linux system and it is
all working fine except that I just tried (on a whim) to run xfs_check

We're looking to add storage for archive, backup to disk, and any other

I was wondering if anyone out there has experience with using LDAP in

I'm concerned that since LDAP responses are not cached by the NAS
device that there will be a noticeable impact to performance, though
