nForce Roadmap by
Tim
Does anyone have any info about NVidia's next motherboard chipset? I know
they're branching out to support Intel but I'm more interested in their
plans for AMD processors. TIA

Curtis Newton
I am working on a friends HP Pavilion M7850 because he was having an
issue with the computer rebooting.
Well, I started noticing that whenever the house A/C comes on, the
computer reboots.
By the way, the power supply failed about 9 months ago and I replaced
it with a 200w (the original was a...

My computer doesn't like non-OEM drives? by
tooslow
Hello,
I have an odd issue with two older Gateway PCs that I received
from work. I tried adding a CD-RW drive to both systems, and when
you power them on, the light on the CD-RW will stay solid, and the
tray will not eject. I tried variations of jumper settings, cables
etc but nothing seems to...

Back-to-School System recommendations by
fedude
So, my niece is starting her junior year in HS. She has an old Dell
that is too slow and obsolete. Like many of you in this group we are a
lightning rod for help and her father asked me for a system
recommendation. I suggested my niece and I could build one from
scratch. I could really use come...

24 <-> 20 pin power supply by
[email protected]
Hi, I have a 24 pin power supply, 20 pin (new) mainboard. Does the plug
in to the middle of the 20 pin receptacle with 2 pins (1 row) hanging
over each end?
No adapters available here and this is an expensive, high end, server
PS. I don't want to change it for another one - can't anyway, as...

Sound card recognized, but nonfunctional by
Dreamstalker
Mainboard is Asus A8V Deluxe. I was using the onboard audio until
recently when it inexplicably failed.
Purchased a Soundblaster Live 24-bit card. After some battling with
the drivers (some driver software was detected as keyloggers among
other things), I got it installed.
I still have no audio...

1MB vs 2MB L2 Cache? by
Joe
How does a system with a 1MB vs 2MB L2 Cache affect the normal user?
Normal in the sense of no gaming, hardly any picture editing and
mainly just burning a lot of images from the DVD/Video groups.
Are there any webpages which explain the difference for this question
and the one below?
While I'm...

I am planning to upgrade my monitor to a TFT and will need a AGP4x graphics
card with DVI out.
I spend long sessions in front of the screen reading text or editing text
and 2-D images. I hardly ever watch videos and never play 3-D games. I am
therefore looking for a suitable card that is...

PC separates (like HIFI?) by
grumpycrab
Just wondering, as single case (high-end) PCs are starting to get noisy and
hot, can you build a PC like a HIFI separates system?
e.g. one box for Mboard, RAM and GPUs (max 4 as in Gigabyte's Quad GPU
board), one box for disks, one for sound (probably OTT) and one for power
(probably OTT but nice...
