Dell: NOT a bargain, more of a warning! by
Jonathan
I'm pretty sure we're all familiar with the cost of USB Key Drives since
xmas. "off the shelf" going rate is about a tenner for 256Mb through to £24
for 4gb keydrives.
So, there I was, browsing through Dell's site, when it suggested I add:
256MB USB Memory Key
FIFTY TWO QUID!
Anyway, I...

Laptop-type keyboard for desktop by
Parish
Anyone know if there is a keyboard made for desktop use, USB preferably,
that is mechanically like a laptop keyboard? A desktop layout ideally,
but a laptop layout would do.
Reason? Nobody seems to make a half decent desktop keyboard anymore. By
that I mean where the key action doesn't deteriorate...

WTB: Desktop PC Security cabinet? by
Palindr☻me
Hi,
I am not exactly sure what these things are called - which may be why I
can't see any on Ebay..
However, I am looking for something that will hold a standard desktop pc
base unit and can be bolted to a desk/wall/table/dozing secretary..
I am sure I have seen the things - you bolt them down,...

Ebuyer's enotes by
jonny
Is it worth me waiting to get a reply from an enote? I ordered some
goods off them, including 2 optical mice that they charged me for,
but never delivered. I sent them an enote telling them of this, they
auto-emailed me to say that enotes are currently taking 1 week to be
answered, that was...

problems with a supplier of a pre-built PC by
Chris Basford
I apologise if this is slightly OT for uk.comp.homebuilt, but you guys
were very helpful last time I asked a question and uk.comp.vendors,
whilst the most relevant group seems to receive hardly any traffic.
Basically, I decided to buy a pre-built base unit from RedJag Computers
(www.redjag.co.uk)...

Ebuyer returns query by
Sunil Sood
I have to return a faulty ADSL router to ebuyer.which I have had for about 2
months now..
Under the Sales of Goods Act (or something else?) can I ask them to arrange
either:
a) for the collection of the faulty item
b) my P&P costs to be reimbursed.
If I can choose either option - is it my choice...

Cheapest place for Nero 6 full version? by
Paul Hutchings
Not bothered about a pretty box, but does anyone know the cheapest source
for a full version of Nero 6?
Seems most DVD burners only come with the express version, I need something
that will let me take downloaded avi/mpeg files and create DVDs with basic
menus etc..
I keep seeing "OEM Suite 1"...

Good service from Scan & Citylink by

Having seen the various bad posts regarding the above, thought it was only
fair that when they do get it right, I comment on it...
Ordered a DVD burner bundle from their "Today Only" page at about 12 o
clock. Request delivery to an alternative address from that on the credit
card. 4 emails from...

Power surge killed iiyama 18" TFT, any comments on Dell 20" offer by
John Perry
We had a power cut this afternoon, so I switched the power switch off
to the study when my PC equipment is and only powered on the ring main
after the power was restored.
But just my luck that my iiyama 4637 18" TFT packed up over the power
outage, so I am using a standby monitor.
Anyway, Dell...

Is original Samsung laser cartridge designed to fail quickly? by
David Peters
Following soem recent threads about Samsung lasers ...
The Samsung ML-1510 desktop laser printer takes the same toner
cartridge as the old ML-1710, ML-1750, ML-1210, etc.
I bought an ML-1510 here in the UK about two years ago. Of course,
the original 'starter' toner cartridge is only partially...

Fun with Dabs! by

Yes I know all about Dabs after sales reputation - but they had an Aopen
Nvidia 5700LE for about £65 :) My main requirement was Dual Monitor
capability - I even checked the specs on the website - however Aopen have
two versions of this card - guess what the difference is !
So back it goes - now...

Dabs - evil or just plain incompetent? Either way, USE SOMEONE ELSE. by
Ben Godber
A brief history of my order, followed by a long rant about customer
service and incompetent delivery firms:
1) Order placed last Monday. Courier delivery paid for.
2) Courier (Parcel Farce) turns up 2 days later - leaves a card
3) re-delivery requested same night to work address, as nearest...

Watford Electronics/Savastore nightmare company by

Let me warn you about the very real perils in doing business with this

I have never come across a company that treats it's customers with such
utter and total contempt.
I made the mistake of buying an Aries system of Watford Electronics at the
beginning of december for business and home...

Warranty woes by
Chesney Christ
Hi all,
I have a piece of electronic equipment which was bought 18 months ago,
but recently failed. I have contacted the retailer but they've given me
the old "it's only got a one year warranty" line. I mentioned the
amended Sale of Goods Act, and they changed their tune slightly - they
then said...

Advice please : Athlon2800 or 3200 by
seeker
About to replace my PIII 500 with either a 2800 or 3200 system.
Question is will I see a drastic difference considering it's £100 more
expensive, or would I be better spending the £100 on say a DVD-RW.
It's obviously going to be a massive improvement either way over my
old system.
If I go for the...

How much cheaper are trade prices? by

Can anyone give me an idea how much cheaper computer gear is at trade prices
compared to the cheapest on-line prices from Ebuyer, Dabs, et al? I'm
talking about components, printers, monitors, etc, and just a rough idea (%)
will do, assuming I'm ordering around £10-15K per month on average.
Yes I...
