low FPS with my 9600 Radeon Pro by Kwijibo
Hi, I just upgraded from a GeFroce2 MX 400 to a Sapphire 9600 Radeon Pro 128MB I do see a dramatic difference in image quality but when I play Warcraft III in a multiplayer game, my frame rate drops to as low as 5-10 FPS. I tried lowering the resolution and options in Warcraftiii to low and off,...

I was switching out video cards in my computer and snapped off a pin on my monitor connector. Can this be repaired (maybe by me) or am I screwed?

Fixed Biostar Problem by John P.
I fought with my new Biostar MB for two weeks, tweak this, change that setting, upgrade drivers, upgrade BIOS... a million different answers that resulted in no solution. I finally came up with the one simple switch that made it all work great... I switched the Biostar MB for an MSI board. Yup......

Kt-400 on-board RAID vs Promise TX2000 by Bishoop
I plan on setting up two WD1800JB drives in RAID 1 configuration. I have a Soyo Kt-400 Ultra board and looking for opinions as to using the on-board RAID controller or investing in a Promise TX2000 controller. I'm looking for reliability and ease of setup and minimal headaches. Any...

Upgrade choices - Matsonic board with KT400? by Neil
I want to upgrade my current 1ghz AMD system, and in turn use what I have now to upgrade a far older 400mhz system used by one of my children. I'm on a tight budget, since what we have works, so spending too much is harder to justify (and I'm saving for a boat!). I'm attracted by the tested...

AMD 233 and 333 for trade... by Corey
I just realized I have a K6 233 and a K6-2 333 laying around not doing anything. I was just wondering if anyone could use these. I would be willing to trade. I'm looking for a few older games like Jedi Knight 2 and the Microsoft Rally game. Also any parts that deal with water cooling a PC would...

Voltages Q by mdp
+/- 5% tolerance is typical of ATX power supplies. You appear to be within this range. 3.39 / 3.30 = 2.7% 5.19 / 5.00 = 3.8% 12.22 / 12.00 = 1.8% -11.99 / -12.00 = -0.1% -5.33 / -5.00 = 6.6% This, of course, assumes you are confident in your measurement technique and

The Stupid Red Green & Blue Monitor Self Test rectangle: Can I disable it ? by dave
The Damn thing usually times out in a minute after my computer goes into standby or hibernation, BUT NOT ALWAYS. Seems to me the F'ing thing is bound to burn a nice dark square into the middle of my monitor after awhile - it doesn't move across the screen - just stays in the middle. I've gotten...

cpu recommendations by Rich Czuba
I am building a computer for my daughter to take to college. One of my considerations is using a processor that runs very cool to help keep the temp in her shared, unairconditioned dorm room as low as possible. I was thinking about the latest generation of celeron processors but I am open to...

ASUS CD-RW by Dr. T.J. Harrison
I rebuilt my PC just under a year ago and included an ASUS CD-RW 40r/48w/16rw IDE RP. Initially this worked fine but lately, if I try to burn a blank CD, it spins the blank but cannot detect it. I guess this is a hardware problem but, before I rip it out and return it, I'd appreciate hearing of...

Lights on, no one home by José Tomás Marín D.
listen to El "Phantazmo".... I had the same problem and the cause was: THE AGP CARD. Just move it 3mm up and turn it on again... or remove and put it again, but not too pressed, just put it carefully. That's why the new motherboards have a security lock for the video card... they don't fit allways...

PC wont start running again. by drumguy1384
hmmm .... I won't say that I know this for sure, but the last time I saw symptoms like this I had a dead processor. However, the power supply may very well be the culprit as well (seems like I've seen this as well) ... and it's far cheaper to swap. Drumguy

Which would be quicker? by Diogenes The Tramp
All other things being equal, which of these would be quicker: 2.4Ghz P4 (400Mhz) running with 1.0Gb of RDRAM (800Mhz) 2.8Ghz P4 (533Mhz) running with 1.0Gb of DDRAM (333Mhz) Am I right in thinking that the increase in processor speed is going to be offset by the slower DDR memory? Just curious!
