400 Mb/s ADC by
Jeff Peterson
We are building a new radio telescope called PAST
(http://astrophysics.phys.cmu.edu/~jbp/past6.pdf)
which we will install at the South Pole or in Western China.
To make this work, will need to sample (6 to 8 bit precision) dozens
of analog voltages at 400 Msample/sec and feed these data streams...

cancel it before the 30 days trial is up and then get 8 referrals. I

64 bit linux, NFS, > 16 Terabytes? by
Dan Stromberg
Has anyone been able to use some form of 64 bit linux (x86-64, PowerPC,
whatever) to create a larger-than 16 terabyte filesystem, exported over
NFS?
If yes:
Did you use md? LVM? LVM2?
What filesystem? JFS? XFS?

I am going to put together a dedicated SQL Server and was wondering if
I would be better of with having one 8 drive raid 10 array which would

Database: Raid 10
Transaction Logs: Raid 1
The controller will be...

Anyone has any experiences with either @Backup or Virtual Backup type

Aside from somewhat steep prices for larger size of data, can anyone
point out any other drawback? These complanies been around for quite a
while, but I can't get any sense of how large they are and how viable

Yeechang Lee
I'm shortly going to be setting up a Linux software RAID 5 array using
16 500GB SATA drives with one HighPoint RocketRAID 2240 PCI-X
controller (i.e., the controller will be used for its 16 SATA ports,
not its "hardware" fakeraid). The array will be used to store and
serve locally and via gigabit...
