GF4 Ti vs. FX5200 by
Amiman
What would be the better buy for a gaming enthusiast
who can't afford a really good card - a GeForce4
Ti4200/64MB 8x or an FX5200/128MB (plain or
ultra) at approximately the same price ?
Would the difference be quite noticeable in actual
usage ? In what way would the non-DirectX 9
compliance of...

I build a computer for christimas and I still haven't got it working
to the way it should be. The computer runs slow at just about
everything. It will freeze up during games and the hard drive lights
will come on and stay on. I have all of the latest drivers for
everything. I also found out a...

SATA nightmare by
Bobby
I bought a new SATA hard drive a couple of weeks ago -- and I've been trying
to install it since.
It's a Maxtor 250Gb SATA drive (the one with a 16Mb buffer).
It works fine as a slave drive to my old (PATA) drive but whenever I
disconnect my old drive and try to do a fresh install of Windows (XP,...

Need cheap hard drive recovery service - Any suggestions? by
Vanguard
My aunt's second hard drive died. It has all her data. The system
boots okay using the first hard drive where the OS was installed. Yeah,
she's one of those typical users that never backup anything and thinks
hard drives last forever. The second hard drive is a Maxtor 40GB (I
won't know the...

computer won't power up - BIOS problem? by
Yup
I'm running an old 450MHz CPU on an Asus P2B motherboard. Up until
today the computer was working fine. I just got back from my Christmas
holiday, during which I left the computer unplugged while I was away -
about 10 days. I also turned off the heating in my place as well - so
the apartment got...

This is the first time I am trying to build a computer. This computer
would serve as my backup computer just in case my main computer goes

internet.
I was given an Asus P5A motherboard with an AMD-K6-2/500AFX CPU. And
I have most of...

Athlon64 3500, Geforce 6800ultra - Which power supply? by
Marc Brown
Subject says it all. I hadn't really planned on buying a new power
supply (I currently own a 420W semi-generic), but when I think
about the 6800 Ultra's original recommended wattage, plus the fact
that I'll be trying to overclock the Ultra, ram and cpu, I begin
to suspect that I may need something...

Hi,
I have a wiring loom with at least 25 wires, and I need to check voltages on
each of them. They all terminiate into a couple of plugs, in which the pin
sockets are far too small to get a mulimeter probe into. It's simply not
practical to cut each one, test, and re-solder (not to mention...

Processor Temperature by
Topper
I have started to use my computer a lot lately, more than usual and noticed
it crashes now and again for no reason.
I have tried everything to clean it up but it still occurs. I thought maybe
it could be down to the constant use being an issue with the processor. How
can you tell if the processor...
