I just set up a wireless router at home with my computer connected through
an ethernet cable to the router and two other computers connected through
wireless USB network adapters. All of us can access the internet fine, but I
can't figure out how to "see" each other's computers and transfer...

I was wondering if anybody has any Experience with Zalman coolers, I have
heard nothing but good about them. I have a Vantec AeroFlow installed now
and I am less then impressed with it. I was wondering if anybody had a
recommendation on a Socket A(462) HSF from them. The following are the...

Data Ribbon Cable situation by
Charles Varner
I recently bought a new PC (a Gateway). Today, I opened my older computer
(a 3-year old Gateway) and removed its second, slave drive, so as to put it
in the new one for data transfer. It develops that my older Gateway has a
"Standard" Date Ribbon Cable, while the new one has what appears to be...

Audio crackles when playing video by
[email protected]
I'm having some trouble with a new PC I just got/built. I intend on
using it as my primary DVD player, but with the audio problems I've had
lately, I'm debating that choice...
When I play ordinary audio, MP3s, shoutcast, or even Windows sounds,
everything sounds great. As soon as I play...

At Wits' End by
Andrew Manninger
To All Cognoscenti, Greeting!
I've already posted here the story of my tribulations caused by heat damage
to my HDDs. The damaged drives have at last been replaced, including the
GigaByte motherboard that had a bad IDE controller. Now I'm struggling with
the task of rebuilding my operating system...

Hard drive light stays on by
Jon Davis
I just installed a DVD+-R/W drive and a couple old hard drives alongside my
SATA hard drive. Everything seems to be working great, except one of the
hard drives which wouldn't show up, so I took it out. Both before and after
I took that hard drive out, though, the red hard drive light on the front...

I was thinking of switching to SATA however I was wondering if it is
possible to still keep my PATA drives for storage and what not or would it
cause conflictions or would it not work at all. Or the best possible case
scenerio all would be fine. Thanks in advance.

SATA cables by
william
In the instruction manual of my motherboard, it is emphasized that SATA
cables should not be bent 90 degrees.
Question: Why is there such a restriction and what is meant by bending 90
degrees, as it is practically impossible to connect the HD to the
motherboard without some bending of the cable.

Monitor gone wrong by
Martin
I was recently given a Proview PK-772 17" CRT monitor to use with a new PC
that i'd built.
So i disconnected the old piece of cr@p 14" monitor that i'd been using and
connected the Proview.
Booted up the PC and all seemed fine - the colour on the Proview was a bit
out of balance, but Windows XP...
