PC locks up when installing from CD-RW by
Gravel Rash
I've recently rebuilt a PC based around a 1.33Ghz Athlon. All the parts
involved have been verified as working and the system itself has managed to
install XP and run the usual stability tests (Prime95 & SANDRA) without any
errors or lockups. The system is not overclocked and all voltages have...

better? More airflow in or out of case? by
LRW
I read somewhere recently, I think Maximum PC, that it's better to
have more fans blowing air INTO the case than out, because forcing
more air in will help force out dust away from the mobo et al, while a
equilibrium will keep the dust flowing with the air channel right over
your components.
Any...

I'm looking for recomendations on which motherboard I should get. I'm
planning on running dual 2.4 or 2.6Ghz 553fsb Xeons with Windows XP Pro.
I'm a developer and want the dual processors for testing threaded code. I
also run VMWare a lot and the dual processors takes a lot of the...

Biostar MB Hangs by
John P.
I'm lost on what to try next on this problem.
System starts up, hangs on the Biostar logo screen for about 2.5 minutes
- no drive activity or anything, it just sits there - then starts up and
runs fine.
This is my second M7VIT Pro board in this system. The first one was
doing this almost...

Abit IC7 or IS7 - Which is best? by
Anthony Albon
Hi,
I want to buy a new P4 800mhz FSB motherboard but cant decide between the
Abit IC7 (canterwood) or IS7 (springdale). I thought the Canterwood was a
better chipset but I have seen really good reviews of the IS7.
Can anyone give any reccomendations? And is the G version superior to the E
version...

I am about to upgrade my machine (new ASUS MB + Athalon etc), but I am stuck

USB External 56K modem, comments? by
Adrian
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Spec1/1328812.html
Anyone got any opinions about this modem? I suppose the key attraction is
that it's USB host powered, so no power supply or serial cable to worry
about.
Do USB 56K modems work just as good as a regular 56K modem with serial
cable? I've not got any...

any questions are 'silly' but I am not an expert in this area.

I'm looking at that board since it can access two RAM sticks at once,
using a dual-RAM controller. Almost doubling the memory speed. So get
2-256M sticks,...

"So, Mr Slumpy you *really* are the perpetual comedian, aren't you ?" I

Most likely 2 case fans and 1 cpu fan. Read the online manuals for
the board and the hd before you buy.

Stange problem by

A Pentium III 866 CPU I have refuses to operate with a 250W PS. It wants 300W
or better. Yet, a PIII 1G CPU operates with no problem with the 250W PS. I've
checked these two CPUs in three different motherboards. Same story. Anybody
have any idea what's going on? I always thought the faster...

Although the spam has been annoying, I find the tactic (if its real) of
putting a persons vital information on the UNet is by far worse than what he
