AMD TBird 1.2 only clocking at 500 MHz by
Bob
I know I'm about 3 years behind the technology, but I'm currently
upgrading my home-built system. It currently has a DFI AK74-EC (KT133
based) motherboard, and an AMD Duron 750. I bought an AMD Thunderbird
1.2 GHz (200 FSB) processor and after installing it, only see it
showing 500 MHz in BIOS...

Hi,
Yesterday I upgraded someones PC with a new Asus A78X-X motherboard and an
AMD XP Palomino 1900+ CPU.
Under Windows XP Pro SP1A, it displays as an AMD MP 1900+ 1.60 GHZ.
Is this correct?

AMD64 - What HSF? by
Peter van der Goes
Now that several motherboard manufacturers are making motherboards for the
AMD64 and the CPU's seem to be available, what HSF's are available? I see
the CPU's come with a heat spreader a la the K6.
The pictures I see show the socket seemingly without clip lugs and some sort
of plastic frame...

AMD64 what ram modules? by
Doughnut
Hi all,
Buying a AMD64 is in my mind and im not sure what ram a person can use.
Does it have to be ECC reg or can it be a standard DDR module?
I currently have Corsair XMS PC4000 and i'd hate to have to get rid of it
already.
Thanks for your input

which is the max temperature that an AMD761 could reach without any damage?
Is it bad if the temp is between 40-45 °C? MBProbe thinks so......

Amptron website by
SPS 700
I went to Amptron website today. Lo & behold they were advertising not only
Amptron(PC Chips} but also ASRock, Albatron & MSI. Do they
actually own all these brands too? It was all very interesting as I
had not been there in about a year or so.

Any faster socket A athlons planned? by

Has AMD announced any plans to release faster athlons (say 3.0 Ghz)?
According to Sisoft Sandra 2004 the performance of the Opteron 148 2.2 Ghz is
underwhelming -- it's not even 10% faster than my Barton at 2300Mhz in
dhrystones and is SLOWER than my Barton in whetstones (FPU). So much for...

Anybody have experience with the Aopen AK89 MAX? I have a new Aopen case
and was considering building a 64bit system using their motherboard although
the MSI K8T Neo looks very good. Thanks.
