The case for ECC. by
Alan Walpool
Hi,
I know this issue has been pretty much been run in the ground, but the
last year has changed my mind on this issue.
Two cases.
1) Very old pentium pro system with ecc memory used for a
firewall/bridge. Immediately had a memory parity error show on the
screen and the system halted. Checked...

Intel ready to put out desktop 64-bit now by
YKhan
Intel is saying that it will put the 64-bit extensions into all of its
desktop processors by 2005, including Celeron. This 2005 date coincides
with the date that Microsoft is expected to release Windows for x64! Of
course that's just a coincidence, Microsoft couldn't possibly be giving
Intel...

[email protected]
I've got an Iridium laptop that intermittently works , now all that
happens is the power light flashes and it won't boot. Its like its
stuck in RESET.
Anyone?
I tried a new CPU already and that had no effect. I also tried
adjusting SW10 (the CPU/memory adjustment) from PC133 to PC100 etc and
that...

AMD PIC pictures now available by
Yousuf Khan
Pictures of the outside (and inside!) of the newly introduced low-cost
AMD internet surfing thin-client called the PIC are now available. The
device uses an AMD Geode embedded processor using 1W of power, and it
runs a souped up Windows CE operating system.

powersupply size for AMD 3500+ ? by
Wayne Fulton
Is any special powersupply size needed for todays chips like the AMD64
3500+ ? The AMD site doesnt seem to have psu recommendations anymore.
Most cabinets seem to have 300 or 350 watt powersupplies, so I assume
that still works. Specifically, I'm considering a new Antec True380 psu
(380 watts),...

IBM to buy Apple? by
Yousuf Khan
Well here's a rumour that's bringing a glint to the eyes of
Mac-crack-addicts: IBM might be selling its PC business to buyout Apple
instead. Apparently it's all got something to do with anti-trust laws or
something that IBM can't simply buy Apple right now, without first
getting rid of its PC...

my 633mhz processor, and my 700mhz processor, they wouldnt boot,
nor post. The fsb shows 133 and 150, should I set the board manually
to 150? is there a flash I should try?

Ghost and SATA/RAID disks ? by
Wayne Fulton
I'm planning to use SATA/RAID disks for the first time, with either a
Asus A8V or MSI K8N Neo2 motherboard, and an AMD64 cpu. I use Ghost
for system backups, which boots to a Dos floppy, and so the SATA/RAID
is a big concern for it. Can it still work?
The concern is about this Dos floppy for...

Nforce4, PCI-Express & S939 - when? by
Jimmy Nilzohn
Greetings,
Anyone with a crystal ball? I need to build a A64 within a few weeks,
but I feel like I should wait until the Nforce4-based boards ship.
Anyone know when they'll hit the shelves in Europe?
Thanks.

Recommendation for an inexpensive Processor/MotherBoard/Memory by
Joao Barros
I would like to know some opinions about a good and cheap combination
for processor/motherboard/memory. I do not play games but I may need
to use a heavy IDE like Microsoft Visual Studio .NET so I am thinking
in 1024RAM. I also need a firerwire port.
Also, I have a Matrox Millenium G450 video card...
