Not happy with my Intel system, want o go back to AMD. So......??? by Zeneca
For core, look for Venice and San Diego on socket 939, because S939 allows for dual ram and Venice (512KB Cache ) or San Diego (1024KB Cache) are produced in 90nm. Both run cool; mine is a SD 4000+ and is 37º C when the mobo is 26º C. On full load might rise 43º C. Air cooling with Thermaright...

Can I run 2700(333) at 3200(400mhz) ? by lonesw0rdsman

Why overclock? by Xavier Sartre
I'm new to this sort of thing, so please excuse me for asking. I'm just about to buy and Athlon 64 3800+ machine and I wanted to know if there is any benefit in overclocking it from the moment I get it or not. As far as i understand, overclocking is liable to reduce the life of the CPU and/or...

Matching timings? by Veritech
Hey guys Wanna upgrade to a gig of ram, i'm a self confessed cheapskate, so i plan on buy cheap "value" ram. However i got my rig overclocked, and my ram is technically underclocked (rated at 200mhz running at 184). Currently i got timings of 2.5, 3, 3, 7. How important is it that my next stick of...

Massive overheating problem with a XP 2000+ by Luke Curtis
I have just got an XP2000+ along with a Abit KD7 raid mobo and the temperatures are rather alarming, Motherboard Monitor is quoting temperatures of a case temp of 47 and CPU idle temps of ~50c and under load temps of 95c. Current drivers for everything are installed. The Bios quotes a surface...

The future of CPU technology by Tim
64 bit architecture, multiple cores, it's all wonderful stuff. But as everyone probably knows, without a mainstream 64bit OS with solid drivers, without 64bit apps optimized for multithreading, it's all a bit premature. I know that this technology has its advantages now but when will it be...

CPU Temp puzzle by Paul F
Hi..... I have an Athlon 3000+ 64 in an ECS 755-A2 motherboard. It all seems to be working fine, there are no lockups or system crashes. The processor is cooled by a Akasa AK-859 cooler, which is pretty good by all accounts, and has variable fan speed control. I have a Lian-Li case, which is...

sisoft sandra improperly benchmarks mobile XP??? by Beemer Biker
I ran 2005 sisoft sandra on my Asus A7M266-D and the arithmetic benchmark indicates a Pentium 3 at about 800mhz. I assume their benchmark program somehow picks up the bios reported cpu speed 800mhz since the system boots at 800 and failes to properly compute that real speed? I am...

RSS e link in javascript by **Snake**

Venice A64 939 runs super cool? by Chris
I heard that the 90 nm A64 parts run cool, but I didn't expect this. Motherboard monitor and the MSI util 'Core Centre' both report idle CPU temps lower than or equal to the case temp, typically around 20-25 degrees. Granted its winter here and room temps are usually around 17 degrees. Cool 'n'...

prime 95 stable with dfi nf4 and g.skill tccd and venice? by a
High guys, I've recently upgraded my main computer and for the most part it is stable. I haven't overclocked it yet but I do intend to. But before I do I'd like to figure out what is causing the random reboots. They do seem to happen when I am transferring files from one place to another so...

About CPU temperature monitoring by Kelakhai
Hello, Newbie here. I've been told that having to much temperature in the CPU could be very bad. I've also been told that between 45-50° was good T°. Well, BIOS monitoring shows my CPU at 51-52°C.
