Making qla2200 ignore node name of the target device by
Mayuresh Phadke
I have a question regarding qla2200 behaviour on Solaris 8
platform.
By default the qla2200 driver assigns the SCSI target ID
of a device depending on the port name (WWPN) and
node name (WWNN) of the target.
I want to know if there is any way by which qla2200 driver
can be made to assign the SCSI...

(1.5-01) on the Fedora Core 1.0 distribution.
As a initiator we use an computer installed with the Cisco iSCSI

The target listens on port 3260 for incoming initiators.

Q Snap! Server: how to migrate NFS data to it by
vraptor
I have a new Snap Server running GuardianOS, and
have about ~100GB of data that I need to transfer
to it in an NFS environment. The data are owned
by different users and groups, and has some sub-
directories that need to be excluded from the
migration.
I've contacted Snap's support, but haven't...

We have six sites connected via T-1 links. Currently backups are
being pulled over the Ts to a central location and stored on a NAS.
Has anyone else seen a setup similar to this one be successful. I
don't know much about NAS technology and I'm more accustomed to good
old tape drives. N E one...

Alternative for NetApp F825c (for CIFS & iSCSI) by
Benno...
So we've been looking the NetApp F825c and it will no doubt do the job
but it's a *tad* expensive and also I don't like the whole RAID4 thing.
Can someone suggest a reliable alternative for the NetApp F825c that can
grow up to 6TB and has enough Ethernet expansion ports and also has a

Snap 14000 raid 5 rebuild time. by
Martin Leslie
Hi all.
Does anyone have experiance of the SnapAppliance 14000?
We are interested in configuring one as a large RAID 5 volume
with 1 hot spare disk. If a disk in the raid fails, the system
rebuilds the 'lost' data on to the spare disk. But..... Does
anyone know how long it takes to rebuild the...

EMC DMX1000 vs HP XP1024 by
Dominic Vetro
We are evaluating EMC vs HP for a new SAN purchase.
We currently have both HP and EMC SANs in house and need to grow the
SAN.
As part of growing the SAN we are replacing a Symm 5 8830 with either
2 x DMX1000's or a single XP1024.
We are confident that both products will do the job.
We have...

Norton Ghost 2003 restores entire *drive*, not just partition? by
Matt
I ran a Notorn Ghost 2003 image restore on a multi-partition drive,
only to find that the one partition I was restoring seems to have been
"extended" to the entire drive.
Is this something that I possibly goofed? ie, I thought I had run the
Ghost backup after making multiple partitions on the...

L1/L2 cache question by
v796
Hi,
An L1 cache is split(I,D) or unified. Most(All?) of the time an L2
cache is unified. Are there any processors out there which use a
split/unified L1 cache backed by a *unified* L2 cache?
Is there any motivation in doing this?
I am confused since IMHO, all the instruction opcodes ought to fit...

TrueImage 7.0 looks good; Incremental creates 2nd file bigger then first? by

Acronis True Image seems to be a great product. Thanks for the
suggestion in the other thread.
I have been evaluating TrueImage 7.0 and have created and restored a
few images. (I love the image creation of an online system/OS
partition without having to reboot!) I've also done an...
