archival-grade gold CD? by
Steve T
Niece had photos burned to CD by Costco that had this statement on the
jacket:
"Your pictures have been burned to an archival-grade gold CD. When stored
and handled properly, your pictures can be preserved for up to 300 years. "
There is no brand name on the CD. Anybody point me to a brand or...

The asterisk says you can't copy DVD movies with copy protection.
Do DVD movies without copy protection even exist?

[comp.publish.cdrom] CD-Recordable FAQ -- pointer by
Andy McFadden
This is not the CD-Recordable Frequently Asked Questions posting, but
rather a pointer to it. I'm posting this because there may be propagation
problems with the FAQ (it's rather large for a Usenet posting), and some
sites have automatic filters that think it's spam. This is also going

Finding subsequent volumes, after 1st burn by
RobF[_2_]
This was easy in Win 98, not in my new XP. Choose option to burn further
data files at later date, then the next burn is all that's visible. How is
it done, make later additions of file groups at some time after a first
burn, and be able to view/copy/execute the first batch of files?

Fixed Packets? by
Gerry_uk
Hi,
The general consensus appears to be that fixed packet writing is not
very reliable.
1. Is it the case that this is the only option for drive letter access
to CD-RW media?
2. Am I right in that the root of the problem is related to the "fixed
packet" being a kind of "layer" on top of the...

GCC-4320B burning speed? by
John Oliver
My GCC-4320B says it's a 32X burner, but I never get more than 16X
sustainable. Yes, I've tried different media. And several other people
in the office have the same or very similar models and report the same
issue. Firmware is, I think, 1.11 Any way to fix?

DVD-RAM media for LG 4082B? by
Daniel Prince
I am planing to buy a LG 4082B multi-drive mainly to back up my hard
drives. Do all brands of DVD-RAM media work well in this drive or are
there brands that I should avoid?
In your opinion, what is the best value in non-cartridge DVD-RAM media?
I will probably get 40 to 100 pieces of media...

Kenwood True-X 52X firmware needed!! by

Hi,
I'm looking for a firmware update for the Kenwood True-X 52X cd-rom
drive. I've been googling for it, but can't seem to track one down.
Kenwood's website seems to have droped support for these drives
because every link that I've run into that points me to there gives me
a 404. If any one can...
