OS X86 on which Intel mb? by
The New Guy
I was looking for suggestions as to what Intel motherboard seems to have
the least problems when installing OS X86? I was hoping to get a 965
chipset board but there doesn't seem to be many OS X86 users that have
experimented with it. I'm looking for:
800 mhz / 8 gb ram capability
Firewire...

Can I get a better processor for P5GD2 Premium mobo? by
Sir Benjamin Nunn
Hi,
I'm currently running a P4 550 3.4Ghz on a system I built a couple of years
ago.
Do I have any processor upgrade options for the ASUS P5GD2 Premium
motherboard (which I understand was one of the best mobos available when I
got it, certainly one of the most expensive)?
It uses the 915P...

Is it Worth the Upgrade by
Talal Itani
Hello,
I currently have a PC with a P4 Northwood 2400 MHz, overclocked to 2700 Mhz.
I use my PC to do a lot of number crunching, like audio coding and decoding.
I am trying to figure out if a newer faster PC is really worth the upgrade.
I have my eyes set on the Core 2 Duo, yet I do not know...

Removing heatsinks and Xeon CPUs without damage by
qu0ll
I have a Supermicro X7DAE motherboard with two dual-core Xeons (model 5080)
and I need to relocate everything to another chassis with better cooling.
The problem is that I believe that removing the active fans/heatsinks on the
CPUs will also pull out the CPUs themeselves because of the adhesive...

Major Puzzler with New PSU and Desktop Utilities by
bdbx18
This is a real head scratcher and of course, Intel support has been eh,
non-supportive.
So I'm turning to the experts here.
This is a new computer that I built, DG965WH, 2.16 mhz core 2, 6 sata
hds, raid 5, nvidia 6800 ...
According to a psu calculator, the 420w psu that came with the case was

DQ965GF and IDU (Intel Desktop Utility) by
mg
A friend of mine just purchased a new system. The system has an Intel
DQ965GF motherboard. It came with IDU (Intel Desktop Utility) v3.0. It
looks like IDU has the capability of monitoring processor temp,
voltages and fan speeds. However, none of these sensors show up on the
IDU.
I've looked over...

bjd
Hi,
I came into the posession of a Chaintech socket 478 motherboard (Intel

Voltage diffence between core 2 duo and latest Pentium 4/D by
Gilles Vollant
Hello,
What is the diffence in voltage between core 2 duo and latest Pentium 4/D ?
I just want to understand if the difference is very important, or if a
manufacturer of a one year old motherboard (with chipset intek 945 or 955,
by example), can add support of a core 2 duo with acceptable...

4 gb in D915GEV mb? by
The New Guy
4 x 533mhz 1gb sticks worked before but now I'm trying a different
brand. I think it might have something to do with the timings. (They
are all the same series.) I put one stick in, and set the ram timing
for the indicated numbers listed below it in the bios. Then I put
another stick in and...

Unfolded segment:offset 8086? by

Hello!
I am an apprentice of the Intel 8086
CPU and its assembler language.
I was thinking about maybe there
existing an "unfolded segment:offset"
version of the 8086 (NOT 80286,
NOT 80386, NOT 80486, NOT Pentium,
NOT Itanium, ...)

Confused about something with GPU and MOB by

Ok, let me get this straight. I'm a newbie but maybe I can understand
this...
I can't get the fastest graphic card for the fastest chipset, but rather,
settle for the second fastest chipset? And settle for the second fastest
video card (at a whopping $600) with Intel?
Not that I care so much...

Just curious... On my IntelĀ® P965 / ICH8R Chipset system, I am running

A new breeze blowing by
Bill Davidsen
Intel has some investment in getting this new CPU cooler on the market,
so I guess this is on-topic in this group. Actually interesting, I have
to wonder if case cooling fans could also be made with no moving parts
to fail.
