EVS by
K.P.King
Hi Chris,
Downloaded the full 2003 report from EVS. It is quite an interesting
read (still looking over the various sections and making comparisms with
Q). I'll post the 4MB pdf to you with the subject line "EVS report" so
you can ignore it if you want. I'll also print a copy and bring it
along...

Cisco 5428-2 ISCSI Brocade switches SAN by
Marcel Hoffmann
Hi ,
anyone out there who has configured an 5428-2 iscsi router
connected to IBM s16 FC switches (Brocade OEM)?
The FC switches are connected to an IBM ESS F20 storage.
Without the Cisco's the SAN is performing well , running
in "brocade" mode and giving no problems. By connecting
the cisco's i...

Diff between FAT32 and NTFS re daylight savings time by
_R
This drives me nuts: If you have two partitions--one w NTFS, one with
FAT32, they'll go out of time-sync by one hour when daylight savings
time changes. MS chose to handle it differently on the two file
systems.
Some archiving software (Araxis Merge) has an option to regard the
files as same...

Procom Netforce 1700 by
[email protected]
Hi -
I have got a Procom Netforce 1700, and I was cleaning the old data out.
I deleted the two luns that were present; and now I cannot re-add them.
The manuals are very simplistic, trial and error has gotten me
no-where, and Procom's Tech support is not assisting. (need a service
contract, and...

SATA HDD advice please!! by
p.mc
Hi
I've just installed a 250GB SATA HDD plus a SATA PCI card and I want to use
the new drive for storage. I installed the drivers for the PCI card when
prompted and now I need to
format the new hard drive I believe, but I'm terrified of making a mistake.
I did go into
"Disk Management" and right...

Want to convert 2nd hard drive to NTFS.

Thank you for your assistance.

Brocade help: can't see drives through only one switch by
Ben
I am having a problem with a Brocade 2400 switch: I can't see the
drives (Sun T3 RAID units) from Linux hosts with Qlogic QLA2342 cards
also connected to the switch. Each device is connected directly to the
switch (no loops), and the switch sees the devices on each port. The
Linux servers just...

Netbackup script to show totals of backed up data? by
Kyle Tucker
Before I reinvent the wheel, does anyone have or know of a
script that would show the amounts of data being backed up
for a given period, such as all fulls and incrementals for
a week? I'm trying to spec out a new tape library. I will
use the output of the bpimagelist command and Perl, but
just...

64 bit linux, NFS, > 16 Terabytes? by
Dan Stromberg
Has anyone been able to use some form of 64 bit linux (x86-64, PowerPC,
whatever) to create a larger-than 16 terabyte filesystem, exported over
NFS?
If yes:
Did you use md? LVM? LVM2?
What filesystem? JFS? XFS?

ATA controllers by
_R
Yeah, I said ATA. I'm using add-on ATA controllers to get
up to 4 more non-Raid drives per system. I try to buy what's
out there in volume cause I figure the beta testing will be done
already. Unfortunately, not so for Promise ATA controllers. They
don't seem to be very concerned with tossing...

VxVM-3.5 "vxplex" question by
[email protected]
Hey.
I'm in a situation in which I'm having to bone up on a bunch of VxVM
stuff w/o access to a system: doing it all by reading Veritas manuals
and SunOS/VxVM man-pages on the web, and taking notes (which helps me
learn). A few weeks ago, I looked for Veritas-dedicated Usenet groups
and found...
