Intel Prescott CPUs by
Steven Goldstein
I have see two different part numbers for the new 3.2 GB 1M 800 FSB
processors (Prescott) from Intel. They are BX80532PG3200E and
BX80546PG3200E.
Can anyone differentiate the two?
Thanks.

Worth upgrading? by
Mac Cool
ECS GeForce6100SM-M (1.0) AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100S Micro ATX AMD
Motherboard
Athlon 64 X2 5400+
2GB RAM, WinXP
I want to switch over to an intel processor and I'm considering the i3 530
or the i5 750; big difference I know. But I've read the i3 is very
overclockable if I decide to go that way....

Haswell CPU needs new power supply? by

Brilliant, Intel.
Is this going to stop the decline in desktop PC sales? I doubt I
shall upgrade, while my vintage Sandy Bridge
stuff keeps running.

Chinese CPU reaching pentium 3??? by

Seriously, I've never heard so much noise about an action that's about

It'd be far more impressive if they came up with a CPU that would
clobber Intel and AMD.
Actually there is a native made Chinese CPU that reaches the level...

New unlocked Intel CPUs hit the market, for cheap by
Bill Davidsen
The new unlocked i5 and i7 CPUs hit the market today on sites like Newegg and
TigerDirect. At least on Newegg they are OEM, no cooling provided. Claims of
4GHz with air cooling have been on the net, but as my grandmother used to say,
"The paper hold still" (her translation from the German).

Ivy Bridge i5-3570K without rdrand by
Mario Andretti
Installed i5-3570K into GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 mobo. I am not getting the
RDRAND feature!
The rdrand instruction results in "illegal opcode".
Looking at the feature vector of the cpuid instruction reveals rdrand as
absent.

Intel and USB-3: How are Nvidia and Microsoft involved? by
Intel Guy
Intel has been dragging it's feet over providing USB-3 support in it's
chipsets. This is because it really would rather see it's own "Light
Peak" fiber-optic solution become an industry standard instead.
Nvidia has been making a lot of noise over the fact that Intel has been
delaying USB3, but...

AMD's 45nm technology compared against Intel's by
Yousuf Khan
Interesting the AMD 45nm technology does not yet include High-K & Metal
Gates (HKMG), yet it uses 15-30% less power. Of course AMD does use SOI,
which Intel doesn't. So it looks like currently SOI utilizes power
better than HKMG, but AMD also plans to use HKMG in later 45nm revision.
