"Best Value", Not" Bleading Edge" by
WayneC
Looking to put together a new system. I have six ranging from Cel 433, Cel
566, Dual Cel 533's, PIII 1.4, Athlon 1.7 and a Cel 1.8 (notebook). As you
can see, I'm not exactly pushing the envelope performance wise and am not
looking to. What I am looking to do is to replaces my game system...

(OT?) Athlon 64? by
Xeno Chauvin
Perhaps I have picked the wrong time to think about building
a new machine? I presently have an Athlon XP2600+ which
I thought about giving to one of my children.
HOWEVER.......
There is at present no Windows 64 Bit operating system
nor any usable (for me) 64 Bit programs YET the cost of
a 64 Bit...

(OT?) Athlon XP or Sempron? by
Xeno Chauvin
Wanting to build a new machine and can't find
info on AMD site comparing XP with Sempron.
Since the Sempron is much cheaper for supposedly
the same speed chip there must be a reason?
Anyone know what the differences are?
Thanks
Xeno

+12 voltage is 4.8 by
Mike
I am running a thunder k7 w/ 2 athlon 1200's, and hmonitor reports my +12
voltage as 4.74-4.8, which seems ridiculously low. Is this a power issue? My
computer will freeze sometimes. I thought it was overheating, but now I'm
not sure. Anybody know whats wrong? I bought this system from Xi Computers...

1.33 Athalon - Safe Operating Temperature? by
whozix
I rebuilt a system on a new FIC AU-13 motherboard, reusing my older Athalon
1.33 CPU. I purchased this OEM chip 3 years ago along with an AMD -
recommended Coolermaster heat-sink & fan. When I did the rebuild, I lapped
the large aluminum heat-sink to a fine finish, using 2000-grit sandpaper...

1.8 Duron vs XP2000 by
Rob
I have just bought a XP2400 and was going to stick the XP2000 in our other
PC which has a 1.8 Duron in it. Silly question coming up...
Which is better, the duron or the athlon? I know the athlon is only running
at 1.67Ghz but is it worth swapping them over?
Regards
Rob

100% CPU Usage Problem by
Peter
Often with my older computer running XP Home with a Duron 850 and 512M
of PC 133 RAM I slow down to a snail's pace. This is particularly true
when I am playing my favorite radio station with Winamp 5.02. I can go
to task manager and see it never leave 100% CPU usage.
On my newer machine, which...

1400(133) changing multiplier. by
Apollo
Hi there,
I have replaced an 850 Duron with an Athlon 1400(133), mainly
because it was free. I did realise at the time that it would only
run at 10.5 x 100 on my Asus A7VI-VM.
As this mobo has no multiplier control and is not stable above
103MHz FSB, can I alter the multiplier to 12.5 by...

14x multiplier for T'bird? by
Dylan
G'day,
As far as I can see, the 1400Mhz 'B' Athlon Thunderbird must have had a 14x
multiplier i.e. 14 x 100 = 1400. Assuming this chip is identical to the 'C'
(133 MHz FSB) T'birds, except of course for the bridge settings that call
for a 14 x multiplier, a 'C' T'bird should be able to do 14 x FSB....

2400+ @ 2.0Ghz by
Gaidheal
Hiya Soupladel... if you can do it, the 2400+ will run ok at an FSB of 200
with a 10x multiplier. But I currently cannot even get another 50Mhz out of
the CPU no matter how I screw with the FSBxMultiplier combos and I did try
taking VCore up a bit (no higher than 1.725 - I'd rather have it 'stock'...
