AOpen AK86-L: Missing retention bracket by
Scott
Bought a refurb AOpen AK86-L -- thought I'd try it to save a few dollars.
Also got a new AMD 64 3000+ (retail boxed).
I've come to the conclusion that the mobo (when new) should have came with
the heatsink retention bracket.
Where can I get one? I know I know... the risk you take with OEM and...

Performance increase??? by
Bitsbucket
What should I expect to see as far as performance increases if I go from a
3200+ barton core chip on an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe. To a AMD 64 2800+ on a
K8N Neo Platinum? Would it be worth it? or should I wait untill I can
afford a faster proc?
Thanks

AMD TBird 1.2 only clocking at 500 MHz by
Bob
I know I'm about 3 years behind the technology, but I'm currently
upgrading my home-built system. It currently has a DFI AK74-EC (KT133
based) motherboard, and an AMD Duron 750. I bought an AMD Thunderbird
1.2 GHz (200 FSB) processor and after installing it, only see it
showing 500 MHz in BIOS...

Anyone know what this is on NewEgg? by
Jerry McBride
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-444&depa=1
What caught my eye was the 1meg l2 cache and no heat spreader...
If this is a pin for pin match to a 754 processor, it may be a real buy
because of the larger cache.

Best AMD mb/cpu for the money? by
jmev7
I'm needing to upgrade several computers, all for
home/school/graphics/gaming. No major number crunching, so I'm
avoiding the Intel money trap.
Can someone recommend the AMD equivelant to a 2.4-2.7Ghz speed (AMD
throws me off with their numbering system)? Also, I need a few
motherboard...

Still trying to successfully raise the FSB from 166 to 200 on an Abit NF7-S
board.
Using a vcore of 1.825 I seem to be very nearly there. However, at the point
of loading XP it all grinds to a halt with an error message saying that the
file "c:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe" is corrupt. Which it...
