Need PS to specs; suggestions? by
Overlord
Hi all,
Well my Enermax is crapping out slowly. Rail voltages are down significantly so.....
I put an identical AT case next to it and ran the lines over to just 2 CDRWs and 2 hard drives.
Primary case is still running fans/CPU/MB/system.
Here's the problem;
I run from 8 to 10 15000 RPM drives in...

BE7 and Vista by
Marcus
Hello,
Thinking on installing Vista Home Premium on my system (Abit BE7 with PIV
3.06GB (O/C'd to 3.5GB), 1GB Ram) when it's released in a week or so, I have
run the Vista upgrade advisor and this has said that my HPT372 Raid
controller on my 4 year old ABit BE7 will not run. I have had a look...

Intel® Pentium® 4 - Little Black Hole on top? by
Wayne Youngman
Hi,
having just installed my first P4, there is something I wasn't sure of.
What is that little black hole on the upper surface of the CPU?. I was
worried about getting any AS/3 into it when I was applying the thermal goo.
.. .
thanks,

What Fan controler would you trust to control your CPU cooler fan ? by
Phil Weldon
Gee, what do the specs show, and why do you need some else to look them up?
And stop massively crossposting; if you don't have time to read the specs,
I'd guess you don't have time to participate in all the newsgroups either.

Why so very small amount of thermal compound? by
Navid
I have read posts that suggest minimal thermal compound. The Arctic Silver
instructions also suggest a very small amount.
http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm
I understand this advice if the concern is that too much compound may
contaminate the pins and cause electrical...

No more overclocking? by
~misfit~[_10_]
So, going by the number of posts here these days it would seem that we've
finally reached the point where computers are so powerful that nobody feels
the need to overclock anymore.
This group used to get many, many posts a day with informative stories on
how folks had managed to squeeze those...

Where to find acetone or 99% isopropyl? by
Derek
I need to clean thermal compound from my heatsink/CPU and the
manufacturer says acetone or high-purity (99%) isopropyl
alcohol is the way to go. Anyone know where I can find
either? I doubt my local pharmacy or hardware store carries
either (though I could be wrong).
Or am I taking their...

help, please, with crashing... by
Uncle Vinnie
I am trying to upgrade an Intel D815EEa with a 1.2 Piii and Upgradeware
370GU adaptor, but it has been crashing.
This board, similar to one in a Dell Dimension 4100, has been tested to work
with both the PowerLeap and Upgradeware adaptors. In my case, the
board runs fine with an 800mhz Piii. I...

Hi, I'm trying to use 2 x 256mb twinmos dimms with ch-5 winbond chips in

Intel Burn is the Best OC Test SW! by
Kent_Diego[_2_]
I just tried Intel Burn and wow. In just 5 minutes I found that my system
had many CPU errors. I ran tests like Memtest86 and Prime95 for hours and
they did not find any problems. The system seemed fine for months. Once I
raised the CPU voltage 0.05 everything was fixed. It makes sense that...

Memory dilemma by
Tony
I just put a new system together consisting of an Abit AI7, P4 2.6C CPU, and
1GB PC3700 RAM (two 512MB DIMMS). I bought everything from Newegg. I intend
to OC (as I have in the past with many other systems). My dilemma is that
Newegg sent me two Buffalo Tech PC3700 DIMMS, but one has Micron chips...

Has ATT Usenet gone away? by
Phil Weldon[_2_]
I recently changed from EarthLink (nee Mindspring) after more than 15 years.
Though as an ATT subscriber I've received no direct notice that ATT has
discontinued Usenet service, there have been posts, seemingly from ATT,
announcing the end of Usenet service.
Any recommendations for a replacement...
