Overclockers UK are rip off merchants by Dancing stag
I bought an MSI K7N2 motherboard from Overclockers UK as a replacement for my existing damaged board. After installing the board, et al, my machine still would not boot, calling an error in the RAM, and beeping like buggery. I bought a new RAM stick from someone other than OcUK, because they were...

Cooling a P4 Prescott by Richard Hopkins
"Alex Devlin" wrote in message news:mxEed.60422$hj.39791@fed1read07... My 2.8 P4 is running way to hot. (So what's new?) It idles around 48C but goes to 73C+ when working hard. Is this at default speed, overclocked, with the standard Intel heatsink, with something else?

P4 2.8: Northwood vs. Prescott? by Bob Snelgrove
Hi Guys, I'm having trouble finding a NW. let alone the new (m0) stepping. There are plenty of Prescotts out there and even cheaper it seems. Isn't the Prescott with the 1mb cache a newer, better chip? Is it just that the NW Oc's a little better? Also, if anyone knows where a Retail NW can be...

fsb speed - why does it matter? by James Hanley
it seems to me that nobody needs a high fsb. since they could just push the multiplier really high. I can see the greatness of ddr since the same speed processor can read/write twice as much per cycle. (i assume that the cpu has to be ddr to receive or write double)

Hi. I just bought a Shuttle SS51G, RAM, Processor, etc. through NewEgg and put it together. Unfortunately, I'm getting no POST. The Power LED on the front of the case lights up, the fan and drives spin, and the LED on the system board lights up. However, I don't get any video output. There...

Help with RAM??? by Jaxim
I'd like to purchase my RAM by tomorrow (November 02, '04), so can someone help me? Can someone tell me if the following PC4000 RAM will be good for my computer. The new RAM, for the time being, would run in conjunction with my old PC3200 RAM, which I know isn't as good as the PC4000 RAM so you...

Can you recommend a HS and fan by Pat
Hey all, I'm about to order a Celeron D 2.4 Ghz processor. Can anyone recommend a good Heatsink and fan for a socket 478 processor. Something that works better than the retail solution. I'd prefer pretty quiet. And I'd like for it to be under or around $20. I don't want to go spending $40 on a...

Need northbridge hs replacement for p4p800se. by Bronney Hui
Hello, Anyone has experience with this dual hook mount on the p4p800se? What compatible heatsinks are there in the market? I've only found the thermalright but their hooks look kinda flimsy and it extrudes outwards, I am afraid it might touch the cpu hsf setup. Do the original hooks come off of...

Which settings (options) do you use when testing memory with Memtest86? I have 2 512MB DDR modules from Kingmax that throw out a bunch of errors if i use most "agressive" Memtest settings, but work fine if i just let it run it's default tests (i.e. i just let it boot from floppy and don't...

CMOS/BIOS wiped in Leadtek k7ncr18d pro by weade
Need to update the bios in my mobo. Winfast wouldn't run. Kept getting errors that the program had to exit as soon as it started. Looked on the Leadtek site and they recommended that you could also use awdflash.exe as long as you used a version after 8.23h. I found version 8.24B and tried that...
