Intel p4 retail heatsink by Max Coppin
I'm about to re-attach my heatsink to my CPU and have just started to clean them up. On the bottom of the heatsink is a metal pad that did have a thick black substance on it that I've cleaned off (and off the CPU). Should I remove the metal sticker-type thing on the heatsink or leave it on there?...

P4 3.0ghz (Northwood) and temperatures.. by Mac
I'm building my first PC and ran into some trouble with the intel stock heatsink/fan unit. I felt unconfident about the placement of the unit on the CPU and I removed it several times after attempts.. (possibly defeating the purpose of the thermal material). After removing it there seemed to be...

Prescott or Northwood by Post Replies Here Please
Hi, I'm looking at upgrading to a 3.2GHz cpu. Since they both cost the same and my motherboard supports both which one should it be? Is this a no brainer because prescott has a 1024k cache vs the northwood's 512k cache? Any unknowns? Looks like the benchmarks give a small edge to the prescott...

According to an interview with Bob Muglia of Microsoft, there are already over 10,000 drivers that have been ported to the AMD64 platform! === Paul: Obviously, driver support is going to be the big problem. BM: You know, the thing you have to realize is that, yes, that is the key issue, but...

Dual Core Question by Bill
Hi, I'm new to this group, but I'd thought I'd ask this question. Also, bear with me, I'm not a microprocessor chip designer. The article I've listed below speaks of Dual Core Chip design + Hyper-Threading. I thought Intel chips ALREADY incorporated some RISC, Hyper-Threading into their chips.
