quick question on pc133 memory modules by
~AlicGinnis~
Some of my 256 MB PC133 sticks have chips on one side,
and some have them on both sides.
Is there a quality or speed difference between them, and if so
which is the better stick?
thanks,
al

new pc-build components (please help tweak) by
Jolly Rogers
Greetings all...
I am building a new PC soon. I built one for my wife last year and it turned
out fine.
I have assembled the list of components below. Feel free to offer opinions
or advice. I am fairly sure these will all function together, but if you see
anything I missed or have an opinion,...

PC Upgrade recommendations by
John Brown[_2_]
As its about 5 years since last upgrade and now out of touch with what's
what I'm seeking any recommendations.
Not a big gamer but would like an up-to-date reasonably high end system for
e-mail, internet, general office processes together with photo and some
video work and not too worried about...

is 850w enough for crossfire gaming rig? by
sillyputty[_2_]
I'm building a new gaming rig and got an Antec TPQ-850 850w ATX12V /
EPS12V SLI certified crossfire ready PSU. I was reading the mobo (asus
P6T-deluxe X58 w/Intel i7 940) instruction manual and it recommends a
1000w PSU when running two, or more, 'high end' video cards. I have
two VGA SAPPHIRE...

Where to look next? by
Jim[_27_]
I'm assisting a friend troubleshoot her computer. At random intervals
the browser simply quits. By that I mean shuts off completely, not just
freezing. This happens with any of the installed browsers.
Memtest produced no errors.
Hard drive diagnostic came up clean.
Swapped in a different...

Northgate keytops by
Don Phillipson[_4_]
Sticking Northgate (Omnikey 102) Enter key, still sticking
after thorough vacuuming (with the cover removed.) I can
see the return spring underneath and it looks clean. How
can I remove the keytops for a more thorough cleaning?

Now what-follow up by
pheasant
Cut my losses. Even for a hobby box the potential issues were too many. :(
Set up another box and life is good again. Boy this P4 2.8 is one heck
of a lot slower than the old Athalon XP 2500. But it's stable. SIGH.
I did replace the power supply (in the now retired box) with one lying
around...

Video Card PSU requirements by

I am building a new system, which will include a PCIe x16 video card,
probably using a GeForce chipset, purely out of "customer loyality".
However, all the candidate cards I am window shopping give as a PSU
requirement, besides the overall wattage, say they need "18A on the +12V
Rail". My...

Where is Intel going? by
TVeblen
I'd like to have a discussion regarding building a "next generation" Intel
based system. Currently it would be based upon the LGA1366 socket version
Nehalem and the relatively few motherboards made for the 3 available
processors. But sometime next year (Q3 by most accounts) Intel will...
