PCL on HP LaserJet 1015 by PeteGeo
Can anyone help? I have an HP LaserJet 1015 and I want to be able to print "Hello World" in a couple of places/sizes, (for a start anyway) using PCL. I am told the file should be sent directly to the printer without it going via a Windows program, which I understand would change the file. I'm...

How to Automatically select the proper paper tray? by Colon Terminus
We have an HP 4600 color laser at our office. We need to print mostly on letter sized paper (8.5X11 in.)but we do have the need to print sometimes on legal sized paper (8.5X14 in.). We just purchased an additional paper feeder with the thought in mind that we'd put letter paper in one tray and...

Dual-sided printing w/Officejet 7310 under SUSE 9.1 & CUPS by Jerry E. Miller
My home network consists of two identical Dell Dimension 4800 boxes, an HP Officejet all-in-one 7310 printer and a Motorola cable modem. One Dell box runs only Windows XP home, while the second box is a dual-boot Windows XP Home and SUSE 9.1 Linux. The printer works flawlessly when running under...

Cannon 3rd party ink question by Jake
Someone posted about using a 3rd party ink in here. I cannot find the post and thought I had put it in my favorites. This company used the US formula ink (or something like that) and also sold the empty cartridges with sponges to refill. It was not hobbi colors but cannot remember who it was?...

Hacking a Printer by Videot
Since I am aware that several electronic devises can be hacked to give them more features I was wondering if this is possible with printers. I have a Canon Pixma IP3000 which produces great results. What I find however is that even though I have paper that will fit into the printer that's...

Canon IP4000 cartridge query by MB_
I have a new Canon printer as mentioned above and we like the prints. Two questions: 1) About how many 4X6 photos can one get before needing a new cartridge(s)? So far, I have printed about 90 such pictures and from what I can tell, the cartridges APPEAR to be about 60% full. Is that about right?...

Printer prices absurd by sherwindu
I did quite a bit of shopping before buying an Epson RX-500 one year ago, for about $250. Now I am seeing it advertised in my area at a store for $100. I know they sell printers just to get us to buy ink, but this seems ridiculous. It's true they have recently introduced the RX-600, but this...

HP PhotoSmart 8150 hangs XP SP2 system boot -- any ideas? by QuarterHorseman
This is a clean system with only XP SP2, virus-free and spyware-free. With a new PhotoSmart 8150 connected (USB), the system won't boot past the BIOS screen. Doesn't matter if the printer's powered up or powered down, the system still hangs. Unplug the printer's USB cable and the system boots fine....

HP 6110 all-in-one question by John Dann
I need a new multifunction printer to act as fax machine, copier etc plus colour printer for one admin desk in a small business. The HP6110 seems to have around the right spec (and handily shares HP 56/57 cartridges with a HP5650 we already use). But there's one issue that bugs me: All...

disabling auto Add New Hardware Wizard ("ANHW") startup on bootup by Tdub
I installed a Lexmark T520 printer correctly, and the driver works fine. Problem is that XP mistakenly doesn't think so. The XP ANHW insists on asking for a file (LXT520xp.GPD) that doesn't exist in the driver file/folder set. Every time I start XP, the Add New Hardware Wizard appears asking...
