which solid-state drives have QLC? by [email protected]
Looking at the cheaper drives, they don't seem to list this info any more. I would guess some that were TLC have gone downhill to QLC.

SAS drive permanently "busy"? by Percival P. Cassidy
Being in need or a spare 6TB drive for my FreeNAS machine, I found a Seagate-recertified SAS drive with more then 4 years warranty remaining. But whether I plug it into a motherboard SAS port or a port on the add-on SAS card, the "busy" light stays on the whole time. Is this normal SAS drive...

Win 10 v2004 keeps trying to optimize SSD's? by Yousuf Khan[_2_]
According to this video: https://youtu.be/ffHIY6pOJUk Win 10 v2004 has a bug in it where it keeps coming back after every reboot and it says that the SSD needs to be reoptimized again. But it realizes that it's an SSD, it's not actually running a defrag on the drive, all it's doing is running...

who would buy Exo 15E900: 15,000 RPM only 900 GB by [email protected]
So it does 300 MB/s, whereas the bigger enterprise disks only reach 250 MB/s I imagine this would be used as a fast temp disk that gets a good thrashing, but then wouldn't you have an SSD for that?

Do you think the days of the hard drive is finally over? by Yousuf Khan[_2_]
So Seagate and other makers are getting ready to introduce 20 TB HDD's to the market. According to Seagate, its fastest drives are capable of sustained 250 MB/s transfers (if you believe them). It would take 30+ hours to entirely fill such a drive with data at maximum speed! Is that too much...

Why is this folder so slow? by Yousuf Khan[_2_]
I have a folder on one of my SSD drives that takes 8 to 10 hours to back up. It is only about 1.4 GB, but it is allocated 2.4 GB of space altogether, and there are 580,000 files here. Indicates that per file it's using up a little bit over half of a cluster on average. File system is...

What is "AC" with old hard disk? by Martin Leese
Hi, I am transferring an old hard disk (20 Gbyte Maxtor D740X) from an old PC to a newer one (Dell Dimension 3000). On the old machine the disk was the boot drive, and so was configured as the Master device. On the newer machine it will be a Slave device. I have the "Jumper, CHS, and Install...

Do SSD's lose performance as they age? by Yousuf Khan[_2_]
My oldest SATA SSD (which is also my boot drive) is not showing the same kind of performance it did when it was new. I only discovered it recently after buying a new secondary SATA SSD, which I benchmarked, and then as a comparison I compared it against the older one. The new one is showing a...

SeaTools Bootable USB *NOT IMPRESSED* by [email protected]
I have used the Seatools for DOS burnt to a CD for yonks. But sometimes it floundered with new hardware, either not seeing any disk drives, or keyboard not working. So got the new SeaTools bootable creator and put it on a USB thumb drive. It booted up on a system where the old CD was no good, and...

It only happens when I shut down Windows. Should I go into the bios and shut down from there, it's not present. However, I had the same harsh sound about 6 years ago with another Seagate connected via a dock. The audio file is he https://gofile.io/?c=GmmM8z
