benchmark question by
Faeandar
I'm going to be testing a NAS solution over NFS. My two main test
benchmark programs will be Iozone and io_profile. The latter is very
new so I'm not expecting anyone to have experience with it (although
if you do the question still applies).
I want to test sequential writes varying from 4k to...

DLT 7000 - how hot should it get? by
Dan Langille
Hi folks,
I have a QUANTUM DLT7000 1624. It's mounted internally. The base of the
unit gets hot. Too hot to touch for more than 5 or 6 seconds.
Is this normal/expected/unusual?

Netapp FC-SAN experiences anyone?? by
Rob Turk
I'm trying to evaluate NetApp's SAN functionality, not the iSCSI way but
Fibre Channel.
Network Appliance offers FC-SAN connectivity for real fibre SAN's. Inside
the box the LUN's they offer exist as files on top of their WAFL filesystem.
So the LUN's are pure virtual. To me that sounds like it...

The controller will be...

Hi!
I have this strange issue...
My ASP page needs to list the content of specific Netapp folder; the
code is very simple:
set fso = createobject("scripting.filesystemobject")
set folder = fso.GetFolder("\\io\Projekte")
for each fldr in folder.subfolders
wscript.echo "li" & fldr.name

CIFS "Directory Change Notification" support by
Martin Connell
Dear All,
I'm wondering to what extent popular NAS and SAN devices support the
Directory Change Notification feature of the CIFS/SMB protocol. I know that
anything running Windows does support it, and I think SAMBA doesn't, but am
curious about the other devices, e.g. NetApp, Adaptec, etc.
Any help...

Kingston "512MB" SD flash cards - only 488MB by
Alun Saunders
Peter wrote:
I have three of these, all brand new. All show 488MB as the size when

Even allowing for 1k being 1024 etc this is a very big shortfall.
Is this normal? I haven't seen...
