Older computer won't start by
Kompu Kid
Hello All:
I am trying to refurbish an older computer before I give it away. Will
be loading Ubuntu Linux on it.
This computer won't start. It has been sitting in storage for a couple
of years.
When I press the start button, I get a flicker of light on various
led's but nothing happens...

I have a new LG SATA GH22LS50 burner with which I wanted to experiment
to try Lightscribe to label disks. I ordered some Verbatim
Lightscribe DVD-R disks at the same time. I also bought a few HP
DVD+R Lightscribe disks, which I started using first.
All went well. I recorded one set of...

Connecting one keyboard and mouse to two computers by
Peter Olcott
At work we need to be able to connect one USB keyboard and
one USB mouse to two computers. I am guessing that a
hardware switch with two in-ports and four out-ports would
work. Does anyone know where I can get this? Do you have any
other ideas?

anyone use this software and have a shortcut on their desktop/backdrop.
Do you notice a change in the icon.
Some days its the normal icon, a green B within a yellow irregular pentagon
and other days it's a B with red cloud above.
Why?

Netbook without vents on bottom by
Grumps[_3_]
As subject, are there any that are able to be safely sited on a
carpet/bed/lap. I'm looking at devices like the Samsung NC10, Acer Aspire
D150/250, Dell Mini10v, MSI Wind. But they all seem to have vents on the
bottom that MUST NOT be blocked.

Computer has rebooting problem by
[email protected]
I had a problem with my computer today. It is working again, but I
would like to figure out what happened as I think something probably
needs to be replaced soon. I'd rather get it fixed before it totally
quits working.
I tend to let it run for a few weeks at a time. There was some
lightning, so I...

Hello Group:
I have an older computer which was moved to another room. It seemed to
run fine, but one day the monitor (LCD) was off, so I looked behind it
and the power cord wasn't pushed all the way in. I pushed it in and
the monitor came on. Everything seemed fine, but then I tried to move

Contrast in Search Engine Results - Phew! by
RF[_4_]
I have just been astonished by the difference between two search
engines: Yahoo.com and Google.
The search was for: "The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable"
In the Google search it was just like a flock of vultures coming in for
a feast - pure commercial with very little technical...

60GB would be adaquate).

Wireless network cards by
species8350
Hi,
I own a Dell pc and want to make use of a wireless connection that
will soon be available in my house.
I think that I will need to install a wireless adapter card in the pc,
and wonder if this could effect the warranty of the PC (based in UK).
Any thoughts?
