Tim Green
Has anyone ever seen a passive heatsink like this for a Slot1 PII/PIII
processor:

I found it on Ebay and the seller says it comes out of a Compaq or Dell
computer but doesn't have any more information. I'm building a PC-based
video-recorder and I'd like it...

Graphics Card Recommendations by
Jabba
I currently have the following system;
AMDBarton 2500+
512 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200
ASUS A7V8X-MX Motherboard
.... but I'm think about upgrading the graphics card to something a little
better, but around the £100 mark - maybe a Radeon 9600XT or a GeForce FX
5700?

Any Idea? Weird HDD problem by
Douwe
Hi,
Working with Windows ME on a pc with a MSI K7T Pro mobo, used two HDD's, a
80 Gb Maxtor 6L080J4 (IDE) and a 40 Gb Maxtor.
That one was near full, so I decided to exchange that one for a Maxtor 80
Gb-6Y080P0, as the other one, except a 8Mb cache, in stead off 2 Mb.
Updated the BIOS of the K7T...

Identifying the Katmai by
Gregory L. Hansen
If I need a PIII that fits the same slot and uses the same VRM as a PII
400 "Deschutes", that's a Katmai? If I'm told PIII, slot 1, 512K cache,
100 MHz bus, 2.0 volts, then it will work, and I can be sure that it's not
something weird that's almost but not quite compatible?

I just built a new machine. (This is the fourth I've put together.)

Looking for someone to clear up this prescott confusion! by
+c0re-
I'm in the market for a new cpu to replace my northwood p4 2.4c.
The main one I'm looking at is a prescott 3.0E, 800FSB.
however... I've seen a lot of confusing and conflicting stuff such as: The
earlier prescotts run very hot, but the later ones, D0 stepping run cooler -
is this true?
Prescotts...
