Screen Images for some texts too faint - why? by
geezer
I notice sometimes when I view a window containing scanned text that
it is usually so faint that I cannot read the text. Yet when I print
the text and/or the window containing the text, the printed result is
fine and very readable.
I have played a little with contrast and brightness settings...

Audio crackles when playing video by
[email protected]
I'm having some trouble with a new PC I just got/built. I intend on
using it as my primary DVD player, but with the audio problems I've had
lately, I'm debating that choice...
When I play ordinary audio, MP3s, shoutcast, or even Windows sounds,
everything sounds great. As soon as I play...

Voltage Selection for System ROM by
emc
I'm in the process of putting together a P3 cpu with a 440BX chipset MB. The
manual gives an option for a the System ROM (Flash EPROM), 5V or 12V. Which
setting should be selected? The manual does not suggest either one.
Any thoughts on the matter would certainly be appreciated.

Computer doesn't like my AGP card by
[email protected]
I bought a brand new Asus V9400-X/TD/128 video card for my computer
(has a SoYo 7VCA-E motherboard from 2001 with a P3 1 ghz). It's an 8x
but my AGP slot is 4x, which most of the time isn't an issue. I stuck
the card in its slot, made sure it was in securely, etc. and then
turned on the computer....

Motherboard Voltage Regulators by
[email protected]
Hi.
I've just cooked the (3.3V???) voltage regulator on my motherboard.
I'm trying to find a replacement for it, it's an Infinity LX83838. I
was wondering if anyone here has a clue as to what exactly it is, and
it's pin-outs. Since my processor, RAM, and cards all survived it going
up in smoke,...

Is this a common problem? by
Gaffer
Is it common for the cable on PC speakers to cause the PC to close down
randomly if it is old or damaged? I noticed my PC shutting down at random,
and if I move the speaker's cable with my hand intentionally just slightly
(with the power cable inserted into it of course) that it makes a slight
buzz...

Apple monitor on Windows PC by

One of my clients has a 21" flat panel APPLE monitor. It has a single DVI

Windows systems, assuming the Windows PC also has a DVI connection?
This is the first monitor I've seen that draws it's power through the DVI
cable....
