Time to upgrade .. question on 939 cpus and memory by Big Red
I've been overclocking for a long time. I've always found it fun to get faster performance w/o spending any more $$$. I've been happy with this rig but now my wife wants a pc and with the upcoming price break on X2 cpus I figure its time to bite the bullet. My current system is: (I have always...

Why overclock? by Martik
To get an $158 X2 3800 to run safely at 2.4 a Zalman 9500 cooler at $60 may be needed - total cost approx $220. If I can buy an X2 4400 with double the cache for $234 wouldn't I be further ahead? What is the max overclock on a 3800 with stock fan?

XP 3200+ operating temperature by tdstr
Greetings I have a XP 3200+(not certain on the revision) that is not being oc'd yet. As it stand right now the cpu is hovering between 51-58c because of the midwest heat wave we're having. In normal temp conditions the cpu never gets pass 51c. According to AMD they state this cpu *could* go...

Actual power consumption of mid-range PC by Jon D
What power does a real-life average-to-middle modern PC system unit consume? I want to keep the power consumption down. Don't know much about current AMD cpu's or the roadmaps but something I would tend to go for something at the "value" end of the market provided it's not a dead end in 6...

Athlon 3200+ Temps by Ian
An old chestnut I guess. My Athlon 3200 just will not idle below 47c and loads up to 53c, no matter what I do to my cooling. It now has a 120mm exhaust behind it, another 120 pulling in at the case front, there's even an 80mm intake on the case side-panel and a dual-fan PSU. System temp,...
