Athlon64 memory compatiblity by
JS
While reading an AMD forum yesterday I saw a post for Athlon64
compatible memory and another for Athlon64 incompatible memory. This is
making me nervous about building a system with an Athlon64. How
sensutive Athlon64 cpu's and mobo's to memory selection. It seems that
many high end memory sticks...

Regarding IDE Primary/Slave and orientation of cable.... by
ZigZag Master
It has just come to my attention that manufactures label their 2 device IDE
cables with the Slave in the middle and the Master at the end of the cable.
Considering the fact that most peoples CDROM/DVD drives are physically above
the hard drives, this creates a small cable routing problem.
So, 2...

Abit KT7E using Athlon XP 2000+ OC by
Eric Gutierrez
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a similar config, perhaps
getting a better OC?
I just went with another dirt cheap upgrade:
upgraded only my CPU (from Duron 950, OC: 1200)
to an XP2000+ (1.67GHz) and still managed to OC it
to 1800GHz stable on an old Abit KT7E
Ran WinXP and DOOM3 fine.
Bios...

thermaltake silent tower in a tower case? by
DS
Hi
I'm thinking of the thermaltake silent tower cpu heatsink/fan, but it seems
a large weight to bolt onto the mobo in a tower case. Has anyone experience
of this heatsink in a tower pc?
Thanks

Soltek SL75-DRV5 + high density DDR module by
Gareth Tuckwell
I have a Soltek SL75-DRV5 motherboard. I would like to know if it will
support a high density 1GB DDR memory module. I know it will support 1GB,
but can it handle high density???
I no one can answer, then any idea where I might find out. I have read the
manual, but it doesn't mention high or low...

Q about updating BIOS by
David Simmons
Hey all!
First let me say a big thanks to those who've helped me learn more about my
new computer, specifically, what kind of CPU I had and how to get it running
a little faster. I'm still researching overclocking. Very interesting!
All the tweaking reminds me more than a little of car culture...

Anyone running Operon 250s on an MSI K8T800 Master 2-FAR? by
Scotter
Hi -
I'm currently running an FX-51 on this motherboard using the 1.1 BIOS.
I see on MSI's site
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=484&kind=3
You can get a beta 1.35 to support Opteron 250's. But this came out in June
and is still beta.
Has anyone had experience...

Thermalright SLK-900U /slk947u by
DS
Hi
I was looking at the Thermalright SLK-900U or similiar as I can bolt it onto
my asus a7n8x mobo. However, I am concerned as my cpu sits rather near the
edge of the board and the heatsink seems rectanglar. Can the heatsink be
rotated through 90degrees?

building another fx-51 system - which mb now? by
Scotter
In January I built an FX-51 system and I used MSI's K8T800 Master2-FAR
because I thought some day I might swap the FX-51 out and put in two Opteron
248's. Well... the time has come and now I want to put that FX-51 in another
motherboard for a friend. Have any new 940's come out yet that are...

why does increasing the fsb speed, increase the memory bus? by
Anon
why does increasing the fsb speed, increase the memory bus?
can the memory bus be overclocked without overclocking the fsb?
if so, then does the memory bus have its own clock?
and why would increasing the fsb clock increase the memory bus?
if not, (i.i, if you can only increase the mem bus by...

2500+ and wanting to RAID 1 - best mobo? by
Richard
I've got a 2500+ that I want to put on a mobo using 2 120gig PATA drives.
Best bet for a mobo that is solid? I also have 2 sticks of Kingston PC3200
DDR 400 I want to use. Prefer on-board sound and not sure what the best
overall VC choice is. Suggestions on case?

Athlon XP-M 2600+, Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe, random-no-POST - what is wrong? by
Erik Harris
I recently decided to upgrade my Athlon 2400+ system and build my wife a new
computer using my old CPU. As luck would have it, the PC I built for her
worked beautifully on the first try, but my "minor" upgrade has turned into a
nightmare, causing me to buy a couple CPU's and a new motherboard. ...

AMD Athlon XP (Barton) 2800+ temps by
S Gibbons
I had the Ajigo MF035-032 cpu fan (recommended on the AMD site for this
processor) and was getting ASUS probe CPU temps of 65C at idle.
My basement gets to 82F (28C) in the summer, where I use the computer (AMD
Athlon XP 2800+).
I did some research and decided on a Zalman, based on cooling and...
