Did my PSU just die? by
Ant[_3_]
I also noticed when the green power light blink/flicker like crazy, it
takes about 2-3 seconds to turn off/go away after switching the PSU off.
On 12/1/2009 9:39 PM PT, Ant typed:

it mostly 24/7). I woke it up...

C: drive has continual errors found..... by
geronimo
I need to defrag the C: drive as it is about 24% fragmented. When I
try to play music or video, it is all choppy now, perhaps because
Windows XP is running so poorly now. Its a WD 120 drive, and the smart
drive monitor is not saying there is a problem with it. CHKDSK runs
and always finds some...

Aneng M118A review by
Flasherly[_2_]
No wonder I ended up with this multimeter -- a no-brainer,
fly-paperweb for catching people after they've flitted away an old
multimeter, wont to pick up the first thing that catches their eye.
Which I did. Instant gratification.
Aneng pretty much dominates low-end, cheap functionality with...

How to get rid of virus and malware etc online? by
[email protected].
I'm using AT&T and they have a package deal that they say will check out your
computer online and get rid of all virus and malware etc problems for so much
per month, but they want you to agree to a contract of a year at a time and
they're already charging me way more for the service I have than...

Why wont my computer start? by
Davy
The battery is a good choice to start with. at least you have
eliminated the PSU, you are thinking on the right lines.
Failing this remove all except the CPU, RAM & Graphics and see if
you can get the bios to boot, you should get a message saying 'Please
insert Disc' or something to that...

Large Hard Drive & BIOS upgrade problems by
Lago Jardin
Hi
My Boot drive is 60G and my old BIOS saw that OK and Fdisk partitioned it OK
some time ago.
For extra storage. I bought a Seagate 120G drive and my then present BIOS
would not see more than 32,248M of the new drive. I then used Seagate's DDO
which worked OK for a few days and it did enable me...

DDR3 on the way by
VanShania
Maximum PC says DDR3 is on the way next summer, which will require new
motherboard and ram again. My opinion is it won't be mainstream in MBs or
RAM till 2008. I would say anyone with a 939 system stay put till then.
Flash the bios and put a 4200 dual core in, be happy.

Won't complete installation of XP by
jenny
I'm building my dream machine (as much as I can afford) and hit a new error
message for me.
The system is Intel mobo D975XBX2KR w/ Core 2 Duo E6600 and video card
Matrox Parahelia APVe which is a 128MB PCIe x16.
It copies the XP pro cd without a problem (horizontal bar at bottom goes to

Can a cheap multimeter be more accurate than built-in sensors? by
Mxsmanic
Would an inexpensive digital multimeter give me more accurate readings
for voltages from the PSU than the built-in sensors that I see
displayed by programs that monitor them? I recall someone somewhere
saying that built-in sensors weren't that reliable.
How much should I expect to pay for a...

ASUS A7N8X Deluxe vs A7N8X-E Deluxe? by
William W. Plummer
What's the difference between the two MBs? I have an broken A7N8X Deluxe
and a -E that works fine. The former has a "feeper" sound device and an
AGP warning LED and certain things such as the CD Audio header are in
different places. The CMOS setup on the -E seems nicer -- it has the...

Running a M7NCD Motherboard with 400 FSB by
Krutibas Biswal
Hi,
I got a Biostar M7NCD motherboard that says it can support 400Mhz FSB.
I bought a new AMD 3200 XP+, 400FSB CPU and 512MB PC3200 Memory to go with
it. I wanted to run it with FSB speed of 400Mhz.
The default BIOS setup is for 200Mhz FSB and the BIOS menu does not let
me change it to anything...

Gotta Question by
Trashdog
I want to create a cd-rom boot disk and flash the bios on this Soyo
motherboard so it will work with service pack 2. I’d like to do this
with a cd-rom since I’m building this system without a floppy drive.
How do I create a bootable and flashable CD-ROM?

connector on its cable. Anyone know what its called? Its looks exactly

No luck with web searches.

Cooling CPU with passive heatsink? by
John Fryatt
Hi,
I'm currently getting some parts together to build a second PC, and I have a
question regarding cooling.
A bit of background.... I also have a Dell Dimension 8300, which doesn't use
the 'normal' cooling setup for the CPU of a heatsink with fan mounted on it,
but instead has a large heatsink...

Heatsink & Fan Replacement by
Troy Snider
Hello,
I'm replacing the fan & heatsink on a 600 mhz Celeron socket 370 CPU and
was unsure if I needed to clean the old thermal pad residue off of
the chip? If I should, what would be the best method?
Thanks in advance,
Troy
